This is a small boutique hotel located in the Canitas section of Buenos Aires, right next to Palermo. I stayed here in October, 2007, so it was a repeat visit.

This is the best place I have stayed in Buenos Aires, and the stay met and exceeded my expectations. The hotel appeared to be further upgraded from the last stay, with new decorative art and improvement in the room.

We rented the Luxury type room for $135 US, which was upstairs facing into the courtyard. The room has either one queen bed or twin twins depending on your needs. The room was very clean and well maintained. It was very comfortable and had A/C, small desk, shelves and storage, safe for valuables, phone, cable TV, and good lighting. The bathroom is small, but has a nice shower, robes, slipper, mini-bidet, and lots of soaps and shampoos.

The lobby area is cute and has a hip wine bar and couch area. Mates and bombijas are on displays and there is a large screen TV. Next to this is the comfortable breakfast area.

Breakfast was more than adequate. It included medialunas rolls, bread, fruit salad, jam, coffee, tea, ham, cheese, orange juice, yoghurt, and cereals. Two employees were there to tend to breakfast needs, and they will also make you eggs on request.

The small courtyard is a refreshing little oasis in the city, with sculptures, a hammocks, chairs, etc. It appeared to have been updated since last year with some new art.

The high point of this facility is it's service....the staff bends over backwards to help the traveler. They took care of taxi arrangements, luggage storage, answering any type of question enthusiastically, and generally being available to make your stay very enjoyable.

Overall, I can't say enough about this hotel. The location is great and not more than 15 minutes from all sights in BA. It is on a relatively quiet street and there is great access to good restaurants just around the corner.

We stayed in room 9, which with its private terrace is without doubt the best room in the hotel.
The only down side to the hotel is that due to its small size there was no way of putting a lift into the building, so the stairs have to be used - luggage is 'lugged' up and down by the staff so you do only need to transport yourself.
The rooms are compact but beautifully decorated and furnished, bathrooms are also nice and and fully featured with all the usual toiletries plus a few more goodies which reflect the availability of a limited number of spa type services.
On the ground floor there is a sitting area, a breakfast room and a garden room - pcs/broadband available for guest use. There is also an outside courtyard/dining area and a wine bar service available, which makes for a very pleasant place to relax after a hard days sightseeing or evenings dining.
Las Canitas is a largely residential area so benefits from quiet streets, but it does contain a sizable restaurant district which is within a 2 minute stroll of the hotel and within 5 or 10 minutes there are overground rail stations, subte, parks and shopping centre.
Certainly for us the hotel and the area(Las Canitas & Belgrano) are ideal, future stays will definitely be here - forget Palermo!

My husband and I stayed at Casa Las Canitas for 4 nights and had a perfect stay. The staff were incredibly cordial and helpful. We stayed in room #9 that has private access to the rooftop, that was perfect. I highly recommend this room. I thought it was enough space for 2 people but can't comment on the other rooms.

There is breakfast provided every morning. Which was delightful. The hotel also has a little computer room with two computers where we checked internet. They also have wi-fi. The hotel staff were able to arrange a private tango lesson at the hotel which we enjoyed immensely. There weren't a lot of guests staying there during our visit so I can't comment on the noise that others have commented on. However, we definitely did not hear any street noise and were able to comfortably sleep in.

The hotel is not near any major tourist attractions except for the polo grounds. However, I preferred this. I enjoyed at the end of the day coming home to a quiet neighborhood rather than staying somewhere noisy off Florida Ave.

I would highly recommend this hotel and especially room #9.

While not as stylish as Bobo or as charming as Malabia, Las Cañitas is an excellent, compact boutique hotel in a superb location. The staff are amiable and informative. This is a great alternative to Palermo hotels and ideal if you are stopping over on internal flights through Aeroparque Airport, only a 15/20 peso taxi ride away. The Las Cañitas area is full of bars and restaurants and has a lively atmosphere. It does not have the trendy designer shops of Palermo but benefits from the lack of international tourists, giving a more genuine Argentinean feel to the place.

My husband and I spent one night on this hotel. We originally wanted to stay in Palermo Viejo all the nights of our trip, but since the Soho All Suites hotel was fully booked for our last 2 nights, we booked Casa Las Canitas. I had read a couple good reviews, and I heard the neighborhood is nice.
I made reservations through their website and asked for a silent room. The answered: “I would recommend the Supreme one. The Basic one is too small and the medium is not quiet enough because it's close to reception”.

We stayed on the room 4, their Supreme Room (US$120 plus taxes), on the second floor. They don't have elevator. The room was very small, you can't figure that out but the website pictures. I'll never book any hotel again without asking the real size of the room. It doesn't have a minibar. The shower box is very small. Their queen size bed is made by 2 twin beds put together. Their breakfast area is very small either, and the buffet just reasonable. Their decoration is neat but very crowded.

So far ok, but our room was extremely noisy – the worse you can get. This room faces the street (and I particularly asked for a quiet room!), and its windows don't seal any noise – you can hear everything from the street: cars accelerating, buses, motorcycles, people talking, the hotel gate hitting. But that's not all: you can also hear all the noise from the inside of the hotel either, doors hitting, people talking, the place is just too small.

So I explained to the owner that the room was unacceptably noisy, very different than what I was expecting, and told her we would stay that night (saturday) to avoid the no-show, and leave sunday morning (but actually felt like leaving right away). To my surprise I heard from her that what was noisy for me was very silent and quiet to her, and that even if I stayed one night I would be charged an extra night for the no-show. I was very surprised, because I felt like I bought a service that deceived me in terms of pictures and noise information, and then it was my fault not wanting to stay the 2 nights. They weren't even fully booked for the sunday night. She ended up not charging us, but under the comments “do what you think it's fair, we will be hurt because you won't stay and didn't cancel according to our cancellation policy”. Should I fell bad??? They are not what they show on their website, bottom-line.

The location Las Canitas is very far away from most tourist attractions of Buenos Aires. The hotel is hard to be found by cab drivers. Even though the neighborhood is neat (but Palermo and Recoleta are very neat too!), there are only 2 blocks of restaurants and bars worth visiting, and it seemed to me only locals go there, so you may feel a little like a “fish out of water”. I would say there is not priority to visit this neighborhood at all. For US$10 more you can stay in hotels like NH Florida or Melia with way better services and location. With US$30 more you can stay on the neat Soho All Suites.
