The Posada Palermo is in an older building that has been artfully redesigned as a home but also as a B&B and those who stay here in one of the few high-ceilinged rooms will feel both "at home with friends" but also taken care of very professionally and not bothered when they don't want to be. The neighborhood is close-in and convenient to the subway and the rest of the very vibrant and exciting Buenos Aires; yet, it is a neighborhood with open air cafes and a small plaza with children only a block or so away.
In the artfully furnished rooms (the owner, Viviana, is an architect and artist), everything has been well thought-out for your comfort. We couldn't find anything to complain about (which is a bit untypical for us). The breakfast is both Argentine and European/American and quite bountiful and beatifully set on the table. There is free Internet access in the hallway and a number of brochures on local happenings. Viviana herself lives here and uses the huge breakfast space/lviing room after 12 o'clock but there is a small entrance couch for use after that time. (In BA, we think you'll find you're out all day and then relaxing in a cafe and later restaurant in the evening.) Viviana is a particularly gracious and down-to-earth person.
Alejandro rides in on his motorcycle in the morning and is "beyond helpful"! He will make reservations for you by phone or Web site (see the PosadaPalermo.com.ar Web site for a good example of such a Web site and a very good description of their offering). There is a charming dog, Pichincha, and a nice, well-behaved cat. The maid and kitchen helper are very lovely, too. Both Viviana and Alejandro speak fluent English.
If we are able to get back to Buenos Aires, now one of our favorite cities, we wouldn't think of staying elsewhere (and we noted in reading their guest book that many other visitors feel the same way).
