I (male) have been to the hotel with a friend of mine (a girl) in september 2008 for 5 nights. We arrived at about 10 pm, so the security at the front desk gave us our room key, which I knew before, thanks to tripadvisor. The management of the hotel arranged a private pick-up service to take us from the airport to the hotel (35 USD).
The room was really big and modern. Everything was cleaned up and we received new soaps, toilet paper and towels every day (although we didn't place the used ones on the floor). We had a microwave, a toaster, a coffee machine, plates, cutlery and cups. I could upload fotos, but they would just be the same as those of the other tripadvisors.
The hotel is perfectly located in the Recoleta district, about 100 meters north of the Santa Fe street. About 300 meters westward on this street you have a Carrefoure to shop food, a McDonalds and also a very beautiful big bookstore. The Subte (Metro) is 600 meters south at the crossing of Callao and Córdoba. To the famous Recoleta cemetery you need just a few minutes by feet (900 meters). The district is really safe, at night as well.
According to the Internet the hotel (apartment) is "gay-friendly", which for me as a European appears a little strange. Does that mean that other hotels are "gay-UNfriendly"?!? but I know that classification is normal in Latinamerica and other parts of the world.
The only thing I have to criticize is that although I asked for a room NOT facing the street they gave us a room with street view. We requested to see another room, facing the inyard, but the interior was not as nice as in the other one so we stayed. Well it was a little noisy at night, but it wasn't a problem to us - that's not the countryside it is one of the biggetst cities in the world. And after walking 17 kilometers on one day you don't care about such things.
Now to the price: We bokked at venere.com and paid 480 USD for two persons for 5 nights. Perfect!
Summing up: I think you can't get a better accommodation in Buenos Aires at that price regarding to the spaciousness and cleanliness of the room and the location in the city. 100% advisable!

This hotel is apartment like- no fancy ammenities. There was a pool, no conceirge, and there was a cleaning staff. If you are looking to feel like an argentine staying at a friends apartment in the city then this is the place for you. It was decent enough for the money.

Concord Callao - good value for money studio apartments.
We stayed in May for a one week holiday and were impressed with the value compared to others on offer in BA The gay friendly multilingual staff were very helpful during our stay. The only negative (like a lot of serviced apartment in BA) is having one of the apartments at the front of the building that endures major traffic noise from the 4-5 lane road below. Try to ensure you get a room at the back of the building, overlooking the pool to reduce the noise or bring some ear plugs or sleeping pills. You may need to pay a little extra to get the right side of the building.

Concord Callao suites use a number of studio apartments in a 15 storey residential building for serviced apartments. They contain an equipped kitchen, (microwave/kettle/basic utensils/sink/fridge/stove top, BYO detergent and sponge) , 4 person dining table, king size bed, cable tv, air conditioner, under floor heating (non controllable), telephone with message service and free local calls, front door intercom.

The office on the 5th Floor is only open extended business hours, so if you arrive after 10pm, make sure you make arrangements for the key. The ground floor doorman isn’t directly related to the serviced apartments, so don’t expect too much from him other than directions to the office and Buenos dias (Good day!). On leaving you may leave the key with him, but make sure you have arranged this with the office prior.

The outside unheated pool area is nice, though certainly not useable during winter. The small gym and spa/sauna are adjacent to the pool and undercover/heated. Allow 15/20mins for the spa to fill or sauna to heat up as they are not left on or full whilst not being used. The laundry on the 14th floor is common for the whole building. The 4 machines are coin operated (2 x 1 pesos) and fairly new, same for the drying machines. For reasons the office discouraged us from using these machines, I couldn’t figure out why other than the local laundry service is almost as cheap.

The location is excellent for access to most tourist requirements. It’s walking distance to supermarket, pharmacies, boutique shops, subway, patisseries, restaurants, laundry service.

Didn’t try the in-house breakfast service, so can’t comment on that.

The staff were very friendly, offering advice and discount passes to gay events (and non gay events) and happy to arrange transport and tours. They also have tourist maps and information at hand and some have a reasonable understanding of English.

Note that I’ve experienced with some BA serviced apartments that if you book in $pesos or pay a bond in $pesos, you may not be able to change this to $US. Not particularly relevant to Concord Callao, but other serviced apartments I’ve used in BA.

Overall the apartment was great, I’d certainly use them again, but make sure I get one of the apartments at the back of the block. They are ideal for people who like kitchen facilities and not necessarily looking for all the services (and expense) of a hotel.

“Loved the apartment, but staff could have been a lot more helpful”

Concord Callao

Feb 25, 2008

We stayed at this property for 2 weeks in February, and rented a studio for $1500 via Temporary Apartments (or Friendly Apartments, their 'gay' division). Whilst this is rather expensive for Buenos Aires we hoped that more money would equal better service, and when we checked out, we asked if we could stay until 5pm before we headed to the Airport, past the expected 12pm check out time. The apt block's hallway is not air-conditioned and only has two small sofas, so we had no alternative but to try and keep our room. We were told we'd have to pay extra for the pleasure, which we thought was outrageous given the overall cost, and so turned down their offer. We loved the apt and would stay again, but would not recommend Temporary/Friendly Apartments. I have tried to share this feedback with the firm, but emails are boucing back.

These apartments are an excellent choice if you don't need the frills of a hotel. The rooms are spacious, bright, clean, nicely furnished with fully functional kitchenette -- exactly as in their photos. The nice maids show up every morning to clean up.

The office is stocked with maps or regular as well as gay relevant tourist info. The staff are helpful and knowledgeable.

It's located in a safe and elegant neighborhood as well -- Recoleta. The Av. Callao Subte stops are within 5 mins walk. Coffee shops and restaurants are plentiful.

I only wish that the swimming pool is cleaner, the gym better equipped and the jacuzzi larger.
