“Great location but poor room design and decor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2012

+ quite central location, approximately 5 mins from D line subte
+ nice touch: a free welcome glass of wine or beer on arrival, served by a very friendly member of staff
+ comfortable bed
+ clean although as the walls and floor of the room were white, they were a little grubby
- Very poor lighting scheme (no bedside lights or subtle lighting)
- Glass panel between bathroom and bedroom: turn on the light at night and you wake your travel companion
- noisy, partly due to lack of soft furnishings and concrete floor
- basic cheap looking furnishings lacking in colour; felt that the design was more about what would look trendy rather than be comfortable and useful
- Would not recommend due to the room: a pity as the location was great. Spent the same on two nights here as three nights in another hotel, which admittedly was further out, but a much nicer experience.

When a hotel is advertised as a design hotel, you expect perfect design and attention to detail. I was surprised by how many BIG design mistakes I found, and how cheap some finishings were. I was in the highest room facing the street so the view of the park and the city was superb. This totally changed my perception of the hotel, because the view was awesome. Bed is quite comfortable. Curtains were tore so didn't really blacked out the room. The shower is outside the bathroom, with NO walls, next to the bed: I found this to be totally odd, almost unforgivable, because all the steam stays in the room, and then it gets so humid, and the AC does not help much. When you take a shower, part of the room floods. The bathroom itself was ugly, poorly lit, poorly designed, with the worst furniture. Service was a little exaggerated, not very helpful but more like a mock.

Room Tip: Stay on a high floor facing the street.

I was very happy at this hotel. It is very well located in Barrio Norte/Recoleta. Easy to locate via taxi since it is across a huge park. I was going to the Bel Air, a few blocks away, but I was irritated they would not give a discount for three guests staying more than a week. I decided to try this place since it was even more convenience to the subway and my meetings. I was not disappointed. First, the service is impeccable, but laid back. Paula is a true gem. She gave me a separate router when I explained about my need to be on a strong wifi signal. It was nothing to worry about. Free, unlike a lot of hotels and strong enough for skype. My colleagues did not have as strong a signal. There was no snootiness with the staff that sometimes comes with the territory of being a "nice" place in Buenos Aires. They were very helpful.

The rooms are very stylish and come with a deep jacuzzi tub and bath salts! Great after a long day. The only negative here was oddly there was no mattress pad. Being a germaphobe, this grossed me out a tad. I just used a towel as extra padding.

The breakfast was good, the coffee very good. I was very comfortable here for 7 nights.

There is no real restaurant. More snacks.

Room Tip: The patio rooms are very quiet, but no view. The view might have been nice, but the street is not th...

I read about this hotel in NY Times - a boutique hotel on a budget. It was perfect for a short stay in Buenos Aires. The best part was service. The front desk staff was extremely helpful going out of their way to answer questions and respond to our needs.

Room Tip: There were only small differences in price between rooms. We requested a pricier room (higher floors...

We stayed in this accessible and well situated hotel for 9 enjoyable days, in a light, modern, clean room with a modern bathroom. The smart young staff and owner, Ernesto, went out of their way to help us with any request or problem, big or small. Unfailingly polite and professional, we are so grateful for their immediate help when getting a last minute visa caused us problems. It felt like home by the time we left. Excellent wines, great salads, very healthy breakfasts, modern ambience, and funky jazz music at cocktail hour. One of the best we stayed at in South America. Highly recommended. Allan and Heather

Room Tip: Try to avoid the room on the first floor which had a plumbing noise problem, which might be fixed by...
