We stayed at The Cocker for a week in late October 2006. Early Spring in Argentina, but with an unexpected 35C temperature we were very glad of the excellent air conditioning in our rooms.
When we arrived, Ian provided us with a local area info and map, along with some recommendations for eateries. (We tried Defensa al Sur restaurant later in the week -food was brilliant!).
We chose to stay for three days in Suite 19-03 (Garden Room), changing later to 12-06 (at the very top of The Cocker). We loved having breakfast in the garden (we saw a humming bird one sunny morning) and drinking our wine there in the evenings.
The room itself (19-03) was stylishly designed, with the wet room above the four-poster bed, which was very comfy with a thick cozy quilt. A little positive criticism though: staying for a week we could've done with more storage space, or at least some hooks in the bathroom.
Room 12-06 was probably lovelier than the first room but without the private garden. Nevertheless, it still has a Juliet balcony and a little terrace, but we took our breakfast at the big square table at the top of the stairs.
Breakfast is immense! Tea, coffee, yoghurt, drinking yoghurts, orange juice, pastries, cereals and fresh fruit, with delicious toasted rolls and jam or marmalade.
If you're looking for a top-notch hotel with all facilities this may not be the place for you but if you want a friendly, helpful and informal place to stay, then The Cocker fits the bill. Rocco, who the hotel is named after, is always around to give a friendly welcome without making a nuisance of himself.
All in all, Aidan and Ian have turned a shell of a house (check out the photos of the transformation) into an individually styled hotel with beautiful furnishings, where we'd be happy to stay again.
