My friend and I stayed at Teresita B&B for a week while we visited Argentina before our 14-day cruise of South America. Adrogue is a suburb of Buenos Aires and Teresita B&B is the only accommodation in town. Thus, we were the only tourists in town, although no one mind that two Asian girls were crossing the streets like locals. We wanted to stay away from bustling Buenos Aires and Adrogue is a great alternative.
The small cottage is behind the house and surrounded by the well kept garden. The room (two beds), sheets, and bathroom were clean. Our beds were not made every day and we did not get new towels every day, which were fine with us. There are two desks and chairs, an air conditioner/heater, a big closet, and TV with cable in the room. There's a small kitchen with a sink, plates, and small refrigerator. Breakfast included coffee or tea (just let Teresa know which one you prefer), fresh orange juice, toast, jam, butter, Argentinean pancake or pastry. There's free WIFI on the premise and I found out that you can sit on the cottage's patio and get the signal. Beware of mosquitoes at night! If I was lucky, I sometime got a WIFI signal at the desk by the window.
The B&B is about a 5 minute walk to restaurants, shops, and the train station. Everything in town is reasonably priced. There are several ATMs in the town center, and credit cards are accepted widely. We went to Buenos Aires three times and we took the train every time. It costs A$0.85 (US$0.25) for the 30-minute train ride to Constitución (last stop) in Buenos Aires. When you buy the train ride back (same price), buy it to Adrogué and look out for the train that is heading to Glew. The train is old and seats are limited, but it was cheap and we didn't mind. It was crowded at times. We took the train at night too and we felt safe.
We took the Empanadas & Argentine BBQ class, which we highly recommend. Raul and Teresa took us to the best butcher shop in town and gave us a lesson on beef. We had the standard cuts, but we also tried blood sausage and intestine. We also went to the bakery for pastry. We made empanadas (baked and fried), but we did not handle the BBQ ourselves because you need a lot of experience to do it right so Raul was in charge of the grill. Perfect!
Buddha had signs with our names on them when he picked each of us up (separate times and airlines) at the airport and dropped us off at the pier. I recommend having Buddha pick you up at the airport after a long flight. He is kind and friendly and answered all my questions about the country and culture. We were greeted by Teresa, Mary, and Tiny (the dog) upon our arrival.
Mary went to work immediately cleaning up the cottage after we checked out (10 am) since another couple was going to stay the day we checked out. Mary washed, dried, and ironed (that was a pleasant surprise) our clothes for US$10.
Teresa and Raul are really nice. Teresa checks up on us every morning and evening when we return. She's patient and kind. We enjoyed our stay and highly recommend the B&B. Book as soon as you can since the word is out that the B&B is a great place to stay!
