Just returned from a one week stay in BA at the home hotel. With the cheap peso (3 to 1) you can't do much better than this. It's a small (17 rooms), new and very modern hotel in the Palermo Hollywood area. There are 2 suites available but the superior rooms are small but very nice. The location is great as many of the best restaurants are in this area of Palermo and thus walkable. This area in under a build-up of new restuarants and small homes and is quaint. Palermo is divided into hollywood and viejo. The viejo area is about a 15 min walk and has numerous cafes and great shopping. The only other hotel in this area is the BoBo which is tiny with only four rooms. The typical bigger hotels in Recolleta are more expensive. The cabs are everywhere and cheap (about 3 dollars to go across town). Dinner with steak, wine and tip is usually $10/person. Eat at Elle, Grappa and the Green Bamboo....all walkable. The musem of fine art, the Colon theater and Recolleta cemetary are worth seeing. Go to the Sat/Sun small street fain in Palermo Viejo and the big Sun one across town for antiques, crafts, etc. We walked all over the city with no problems. The parks are great. Taking the subway is inconvenient and hot. Use the cheap taxis instead. Highly recommended is a side trip to Iguazu falls for 2 days if you have the time. Stay at the Hotel Cataratas near town and eat at La Rueda (get the lomo).
