I arranged beforehand to stay one week, then somewhere else; next time, I'll stay here for the entire trip. The hotel is beautiful, with a sort of art deco elegance that continues to please. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was fine if a trifle small. There was adequate shelf and hanging space for our clothes.
The staff was superb. They ALL were consistently friendly and helpful. They made reservations for us, called cabs, helped with our luggage (the airline lost ours for two days), suggested restaurants, etc., etc. Cant say too much good about them.
The tango lessons are held in the early evening, on the first floor of the hotel, and they do a remarkable job of catering to both novices and intermediates. We had taken lessons for over a year, and knew our way around the floor, but we learned a lot and were very pleased with the quality of the instructors, some of whom brought along an interpreter because they spoke no English.
The neighborhood is shabby, but I'm told that it has become very expensive and is on the way to becoming gentrified. In any case, I never felt unsafe, even walking home after dinner late at night. All
of the streets were well lit, and there was always both pedestrian and vehicular traffic. There are many excellent restaurants nearby, as well as a laundry and (very important) two fine gelaterias!
Breakfast at the hotel was a very large buffet with eggs and prosciutto, several different medialunas and sweet breads, toast, yoghurt, fresh fruit, juices. Too satisfying for my waistline.
Bottom line= my wife and I will definitely return.
