“Charming Hotel”

Tribeca Buenos Aires Apart

Tribeca Buenos Aires Apt is a wonderful property located in Centro BA. My room was relatively quiet and very large with what must have been 15ft ceilings and equipped with a new LCD TV. My bed was king size and quite comfortable. The bath was equipped with toilet, bath/shower and bidet. I was delighted to see that the electrical outlets could accommodate both local standard 220v plugs AND US standard 110v which was super convenient. My room also had a microwave oven and small refrigerator. Another great thing was that the maids did not come to clean up and make the bed until the afternoon, so I was never annoyed by them knocking on my door in the morning like maids do here in the US. I booked the room through Skoosh.com a UK-based online booking site and I paid about US$65/night total, incl taxes.

The hotel staff was very accommodating, but, be advised that only the desk clerks speak English, so if you are like me and don’t speak any Spanish, you’ll have to get creative by using your hands and facial expressions to be understood. My stay included a self serve free breakfast, 6:00am – 10:00 am, of pastries, ham (cold cut), cheese, strong coffee and tea. The restaurant is open until late in the evening, but I didn’t have any other meals besides breakfast, so, I really can’t comment on the food. There is a computer in one section of the restaurant where you can check your email or surf the web for free.

The front desk will exchange $US100 dollar bills for pesos at current bank rates which was awesome. There are many good restaurants within a few blocks of the Tribeca where you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Overall, restaurant prices make dining a steal in BA. There are also several good grocery stores within walking distance from the hotel and the desk clerks will tell you where they are.

The neighborhood is fine…very busy….lots of cars and pedestrians during the daylight hours and safe at night for walking to restaurants for dinner. There are also several other hotels right around the Tribeca which look to be OK. Keep in mind that people in BA begin dining at around 10:00 pm.

It seems that each neighborhood specializes in certain types of businesses. For example, in San Telmo, it was Antiques Stores, in another area, it was textiles and fabrics. In the neighborhood where the Tribeca is located, there are many musical instrument stores which, to me, was cool.

I highly recommend this hotel, but you must be careful when booking it because there are two Tribeca hotels owned by the same company, one 4-star and the other 2-star and both are on the same street, Bartolomo Mitre, but at different addresses and several miles apart. My cab driver brought me to the 2-Starr hotel by mistake and what was amazing to me was that the Desk Clerk didn’t catch it. She actually checked me in. After traveling for 14 hrs, I just wanted to sleep, so I did not question her. I figured that this was a classic ‘bait and switch’ and had planned to start screaming after a good rest and shower. Fortunately I did not have to- they called me later that afternoon and said that a terrible mistake had been made. They even paid for my taxi to the 4-star. Don't worry, you will know that you are at the wrong hotel if it does not look like the pictures in this Trip Advisor listing.

OVERALL, A GREAT STAY IN A GREAT CITY.

The Place itself is lovely, but when you get there you think where have I ended up? The area where the hotel is, is not as good, but the hotel is in a good position to visit BA , very clean very big rooms, ours was divided into a living area and the sleeping area, we had some problems with hot water the first day but they solved it soon, the staff is bery kind and helpful, and there is free wi-fi!!!!!

“Pleasant Stay”

I stayed here for four nights in the beginning of April 2008.

The room rates (found vis AsiaRooms) was great for this hotel and location.

Location - the location is great. Very close to the subway lines and never more than 10 pesos from where we wanted to get to throughout the city (ie. Palmero, Recoleta). My gf and I did not feel the area was dangerous at all during the night or early mornings.

Rooms - rooms were very big. Similar to staying at a studio apartment than staying at a hotel or B&B. The rooms were clean but had a strong wood/plaster smell that went away as soon as we opened our windows or A/C.

Front Desk - very nice and pleasant. They helped us book dinner reservations and suggested different tango shows and activities.

In conclusion, you can¨t beat the price to stay at this centro location. However, the next time I come to Buenos Aires, I would definitely try to stay in Recoleta or Palmero due to the area¨s more residential feel.

Used Asia Rooms to book got exceptionally good price ... the hotel was really good with lovely breakfast Good tourist dinner 3 course or a la carte in their smajl restaurant Very helpful staff ,always had an english speaking person avaiilable (we had a Lan Chile email in Spanish which we didnt understand staff translated, sent the info to the reception printer to print out the boarding passes in duplicate) stored luggage for 2 days whilst we went to Iguazu and came back to stay again
free internet bar open with nice courtyard to have a drink in it is a very interesting building and the location is 2 blocks to main streets eg 9 de Julio then 3 blocks along you are at the Obelisk. Also 2 blocks other way to Av de Mayo banks/ restaurants etc reception staff very helpful if you need info There is a small supermarket almost direcly opposite also with a person that sells fruit in the entrance Larger supermarket further down street. Easy to use Radio cabs and cheap for evening trips out. Double glazed windows and the courtyard gvies a nice feel to the place

“Great hotel, great value”

Tribeca Buenos Aires Apart

Jan 8, 2008

We were very satisfied with our stay at Tribeca. The location is excellent, in "pleno centro" and within a couple of blocks from a major subway.

The staff was friendly and helpful, and let us check in more than 2 hours early, as well as allowed us to check out a bit later. The rooms were clean, and incredibly spacious.

The breakfast buffet was amazing...and free! Fresh fruits, breads, yogurts, pastries, croissants, hams, cheeses, cereals, and fruit salad. Eggs made to order!

The only complaint was the peso per call made with a calling card.

Overall, a great value. We booked through an Argentine website, and our one night stay was just $86 USD.
