The Bobo is in a great part of BA, Palermo. It's close to the subte at Plaza Italia so the metro downtown is an easy journery. The Plaza Serrano is nearby too, and there you'll find plenty of interesting bars and cafes. Palermo is safe, interesting and has everything you'd need for a great stay in BA. It's also close enough to Recoleta, for shopping and the cemeterio. Plaza de Mayo and Puerto Madero, the main downtown venues you must visit are 20 mins away on the subte.
Our room was really comfotrable and had a terrace. It was clean and had all the amenities you'd look for in a top of the range hotel. The point about the Bobo is that's small, intimate and has a unique character. The staff know who you are and everything has a personal touch associated with their service.
The hotel staff are really helpful with everything. All their restaurant recommendations were delightful. It was important because often those recommended in guide books change hands and names quite quickly so you can't find them that way! Every place they sent us was patronised by locals, who don't think about eating till after 9.00pm, and reservations were essential. Again Bobo reception staff took care of that for us too.
Argentinean cuisine is not only great value but excellent in standard, wherever we went.
The Bobo restaurant was closed, sadly, while we were there. However, breakfasts were superb. On the first night we were treated to a free wine tasting which was really informative, as well as good fun. My respect for Argentinean wine has increased. The cab savs matched any that I've drunk from Chile or Australia and persuaded me that it's not just malbec to look out for. There was no obligation, nor pressure to buy any of the wines on offer.
Reception also organised all the cabs we needed. They made reservations for us with Buquebus as we continued on our onward journey across the River Plate to Uruguay and Colonia, then on to Montevideo.
I can't recommend the hotel too highly. Everything about it is superb!
