I had read raves about the BoBo and was lucky enough to get a reservation during the "winter" season in July 2006. For the most part, the hotel earned every one of its raves. Let me start with the Staff: awesome ! Though my room was'nt ready when I arrived at 8am, they allowed me to "crash" on a sofa and had my room ready by 11am. The Waiters, Bartenders, and Concierge were all first class - although I find just about everyone in Buenos Aires is friendly. The Staff booked me on the "buquebus" for a day trip to Uruguay and gave me recommendations of things to do while I was there. The restuarant was amazing in the Bobo. The rooms were nice - yes a little noisy but I did'nt smell any smoke while I was there. The Argentenian Room is the one to get if you can - I also stayed in the "Traditional" room for two nights and it was nice but yes a bit noisy. My only gripe about the Bobo - the location. It is off the beaten path in a residential area that is a little scary. If you want something closer to the Microcentro or Recoleta, the Bobo is probably not for you you. Otherwise, go for it - but book in advance - I have planned 2 subsequent trips to BA and could not get a room at the BoBo.

If you enjoy an intimate, small B&B atmosphere, the BoBo is a must. We were treated like family by the young, energetic staff. By the time we left, we knew everyone by name. Our every need was joyfully and effortless fulfilled.

They only have 7 rooms in an old house which has been fully remodeled. While not large by some standards, the Minimalist room, #3, was quite adequate and with the deck space, gave us plenty of opportunity to spread out.

By the way, this is a non-smoking hotel, so there were no foul odors to disturb the quiet surroundings.

In addition to the rooms, there is a trendy, but not over-the-top restaurant where chef Sebastian creates some great fusion dishes. They have a special executive menu for lunch which is not only delicious but a real bargain. Where can you get a three course lunch (salad, entre & desert plus expresso) for $US6?

Again, the staff can not be praised enough. They wait table as well as serve guest needs and do it with class. Did I mention that they have a sommelier who at 24 years old has a passion for wine and the knowledge to match?

The location, in Palermo SoHo, is convenient, safe and loaded with other good resaurants. It's close to Centro, Recoleta and San Telmo (15 minute taxi ride $3-4).

It's definitely where we will stay when we return to BA. It books up often, so make reservations well ahead. If you want a touch of old world class in an up-to-date setting, the BoBo is the place.

This is an excellent boutique hotel and I have been recommending it to all my friends. In a quiet, tree-lined, chi-chi neighbourhood, close to the metro, so easy access to down-town. A wonderful in-house restaurant, which serves delicious wine, yet with lots of food and drink alternatives within easy walking distance. Great breakfasts. Quiet, attentive service - they couldn't do enough for me. Elegant, modern decor. I was in room 1 on the front and did not have any problems with noise. Breakfasts are served from 8.30 so I wouldn't recommend this for business travellers.

on our way to the antartic we stayed 2 nights at the bobo hotel.
we booked the minimalist room. on our arrival ( 12.00 hrs) the room wasn't ready yet. it was available from 15.00 hrs ( keep this in mind esp. when you're arriving from a night flight). we couldn't have lunch in the hotel because there was a problem with the gas for the cooker. the reception gave us an address of a nice restaurant in the neighbourhood. unfortunately we also couldn't have dinner in the restaurant of the hotel because that night there was a private party.
we liked our room very much, it was very spacy and had a nice terrace. the breakfast was very nice as well.
we also liked the location of the hotel.

Bobo was ideal! Last year, we stayed in this same neighborhood, Palermo Soho, in another property, which was also quite nice, but Bobo's rooms and bathrooms are more comfortable and larger than competitors'. Ask for room #3, which is quite and has a balcony and lots of sunlight. We also stayed in #7, which is also called Argentinian, which has a larger bathroom and more windows, but the shower and room lay-out are more cramped. A friend stayed in room #1, and it was quite nice and faces the tree-lined street.

Reports here of noise from construction are blown out of proportion. The street does have some building, but this never disturbed us.

Bobo also has a nice bar/restaurant, and I'm happy to report that the portenos now have Grey Goose and Belvedere vodka to drink. Last year, Absolut vodka controlled distribution and we had to go as far as Alvear Palace for a decent martini.

The staff at Bobo is also helpful. They made excellent recommendations for places to eat off the beaten path.

  • Tips/Secrets: — room #7, the most expensive, isn't the best room. we preferred room #3.
