I stayed at the 3 Gueishas room with 3 other friends, we reserved the whole room for us and stayed 3 nights. The total cost was of 55 US Dollars, and was worth every penny. For the price we paid, the room was totally worth it, we befriended some of the hosts, the breakfast was delicious (simple, but delicious) and the hotel itself seems a lot like a house that was had been empty for months and was just cleaned up yesterday. When I got there I immediately noticed that the pictures in the website had created a much nicer image of the hotel than it actually was, but the hotel was just as nice as I had thought of it, but in a different way. It's cozy, comfortable, plesant, has a nice warmth to it. But it is not "chique" or "elegant", so if you're looking for a comfortable place to come back home to after a day of walking and shopping and are willing to pay a higher price, you might want to look around more. I'm 17 and stayed with 3 other friends of the same age, we didn't want to spend much money and weren't looking for high class rooms or fancy hotels, so for the price we paid it was TOTALLY worth it, and the location is excelent too. If I go back to buenos aires with friends I would certainly want to stay at che lulu again. The 3 Gueishas room is adorable, although again, it looks "old". I guess that's part of the charm. And there's a negative part to the room, it has no door. It's the last floor so it's as if it were an attic, and you go up this staircase (there are no elevators because it only has 3 floors, so prepare to take the suitcases upstairs) to get to the room, but no one ever touched any of our stuff. But it is a room that is shared between 5 people (unless you reserve the whole room, like my friends and I did) so I guess it makes sense that there's no door. On the other hand, the hotel is like a house, so to get in you need to ring a doorbell and identify yourself before entering, that way it's safer. And there is someone at the door 24/7.
They also don't accept payments in credit cards, which can make things more complicated for some people.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience, the hotel is plesant and totally worth the price (for our room, at least). The location is great, the staff is young and polite (except for this one lady that no one liked), the 3 Gueishas room is confortable, spacious and clean, the bathroom is shared between all rooms except for one and is clean too (there are two bathrooms, one that has the 2 showers and 1 toilet, and another with only a toilet and sink. this way you can shower and lock the door) but it's complicated to get warm water. Either its steaming hot or it's freezing cold.
I recommend it if you want to save money and/or you're young and/or adventurous (as in not interested in elegance and high class accomodations).
And if you go, tell Nico or Daniel (2 of the hosts) that I really appreciated the mediaslunas after a night out in the clubs. It was nice to go to back to the hotel at 5 o'clock in the morning after having danced all night long and just sit down on the couch in the living room and just chat with them eating croissoints (with no additional charge!).
Enjoy (:
