My husband and I used the Art Hotel as our base while travelling around northern Argentina, and then again when we ended our trip in Buenos Aires (4 nights in all). The Small and Cozy room was exactly that - small but very cozy, beautifully designed and perfect if you don't plan to spend lots of time in your room. Over the weekend, we upgraded to the Queen room - which is designed along the same lines as the Small & Cozy but is much larger. The breakfast was wholesome, the ambience lovely, the location perfect - but the highlight was definitely the warmth that the staff at Art Hotel showed us and all their other guests. From recommending the best steak restaurant in town, to handling all our travel reservations, they went over and above what we have come to expect from 5 star concierge services - they really made our trip for us. We highly recommend the Art Hotel for anyone who doesn't want the usual run-of-the-mill hotel in Buenos Aires and wants a quality, warm boutique hotel that represents real value for money.

This is my second time in Buenos Aires. The first time I rented an apartment with friends which was the best thing ever. This time I was traveling alone and so I decided to rent a hotel room. I wanted inexpensive (rates here are 75 dollars US), safe and clean. The rooms are small but efficient and cute. There is cable with a few English channels. The breakfasts are excellent (comes with room) and the Hotel staff are incredibly friendly. There is wIFI in the lobby and a single computer (if you have no laptop). If you are looking for a quaint hotel, at fairly low cost in a good walking neighborhood this is it.

I stayed at the Art Hotel this past May, 2006. The staff are in my opinion, fantastic. As a solo female traveler, I felt that these people treated me as if I was part of their family. I ran into many other solo female travelers at breakfast who were staying at this hotel as well. This says a great deal about the safety , location and cost at the Art Hotel. You are minutes away from a busy shopping street, a bank two blocks away and the famous Recoleta cemetery just 8-9 blocks away. You have a great deal within walking distance.

I have read other posters opinion's about the room size but I did not experience that same issue nor did I hear anyone complain while I was there. In truth, the individuals I spoke to during breakfast only had positive things to say about this hotel and mostly about the great staff. For location, cost , safety and most importantly, customer treatment...I feel that this hotel is a great choice.

Hotel has great location in Recoleta, within walking distance of Recoleta cemetery and shopping avenida Santa Fe district.
Very friendly and helpful staff!
Basic, no frills rooms are good value. Make sure you reserve a king-size room (which comes with a queen bed).

The service at this hotel is very good, so I hate to speak ill of this hotel, but the truth is, we found the rooms very poor. First of all, they are tiny by North American standards. The first room they put us in was dark with a tiny window and very spartan furnishings. We were so depressed by it we asked to be moved to a brighter room. They put us in a room which fronted the street and had more light, but it was TINY. There was only room for the bed and a tiny nightstand. The bathroom was a closet, and we had nowhere to put our luggage. Considering we had made reservations 6 months in advance, we expected a better room. We were so disappointed we cancelled the remainder of our reservation and moved to the Cesar Palace hotel, which had much more comfortable rooms.

Management response from arthotel, Manager

The ART HOTEL is located in one old building from 1927, we respected the historical integrity and originals details from that time. Its true that you probably find our Small & cosy twins rooms a little small but the design is modern and well done, you can read others reviewes.
I m sure the price for a room at the 5 ***** Caesar Palace Hotel is very differents than our prices.
