We stayed here one night postcruise, after three nights at the Holiday Inn Express in Puerto Madero, (which I also reviewed) in order to experience a different area. Let me preface my review by saying that we stayed in a small and cozy room (meaning smaller than a prison cell and claustrophobic). This was only possible because we had repacked our luggage so that we left all of it downstairs with the staff except for one small duffel, and even then it was difficult. With more luggage it would have been impossible. There was one tiny shelf in the bathroom, and no room on the sink to place things. If you are going to stay here, pay for a larger room, especially if your stay is longer than one night. The small and cozy was $85 booked through Innsofargentina.com, and that included tax and breakfast.
I did like the atmosphere and location of this property very much. The breakfast provided was decent enough, and they provided lots of unexpected amenities in addition to the standard lotion and shampoo. They had two free internet computers, though one was out of order and it was hard to find the other one available.
When we peeled back the dreaded bedspread, there was a small cluster of dusty human hairs that fell off, but I guess that can happen. The room appeared clean enough otherwise, and our feet were totally clean after walking barefoot in the room.
I love this area of BA, and very much preferred it to Puerto Madero. We walked to the cemetery, and there were a variety of restaurants close to the hotel. The area felt safe for walking around. The artwork on the walls contributes to a very nice atmosphere, and I understand a different artist is featured monthly.
We found the staff to be helpful and accommodating. For example, we had found that the standard rate for a cab back to the airport was $35, but they called a driver they knew (who wore a suit and was extrememely professional) who tooks us to the airport for $27 or $28. He was such a cut above the average cab driver.
You will be happy with this property if you know what to expect. It is fairly newly opened, but a very old (1930s I think) renovated building.
