Our stay at the Art Hotel in Recoletta was a bit of a mixed bag. The positives:

* Beautiful room with balcony
* Convenient location in Recoletta district
* Friendly staff
* Pleasant public areas, including lounge and cafe

The negatives:
* Small bathroom with cramped tub/shower
* Poor service
* Expensive for the overall experience

Overall it was a nice hotel with a very romantic room, high ceilings, old fashion moldings, quaint balcony overlooking a quiet street and french windows. The staff is friendly but seemingly untrained in customer service. The two oddest gaffs were that they were unable to make a dinner reservation without you standing over them and that they asked me to help carry my luggage down when I requested that they move my luggage from my room to the lobby. For the rates the hotel charges, the service level is inadequate.

We stayed there for 6 nights. It has absolutely the best location, right in the middle of all the places of interest San Telmo, Puerto Madero, Palermo, Caminito. It's aproxemetely 10 blocks from the main avenue Avenida 9 de julio.
If you like shopping, walking and dining is the best place, since it's two blocks froma Avenida Santa Fe which is full of nice restaurants, cafes and awesome stores.

I WILL ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT TO VISIT ARGENTINA FOR A REASONABLE PRICE. IT WILL THE BEST YOU GET FOR A LOW PRICE.

Stayed here for 5 days during a 11 day South American trip, and we loved it (as did the other couple we stayed with). It's definitely not a full-service hotel, but it's the kind of hotel I try to book during any international stay. Big luxury hotels tend to place some distance between the traveler and the destination, but the Art Hotel provides a boutique hotel experience that feels more genuine. The hotel expertly balanced elegance, service, location, comfort and value. If you need a pool or other special amenities, you may try elsewhere, but we enjoyed going to the local dry cleaners down the street, finding food around the corner at a market, etc. The staff was excellent in every regard. The whole art-sale part of the hotel was a little cheesy and useless, to be matter-of-fact, but we didn't sit around in the lobby looking at the art. Instead, we picked up a few liters of beer, a few bottles of malbec wine, and enjoyed the evenings on the rooftop for pennies. Book and enjoy.

We recently stayed for one night at this hotel. The hotel is located i a nice area and was quiet as requested. It is also tastefully decorated. However, we found our room extremely small. Fortunately we were out most of the day and evening so it was just about bearable. Uncomfortably small for more than one night.

Unfortunately we found all the staff slovenly and very unwilling to stop their chat and help. For instance we had a very early check out. I know a full breakfast is often difficult in this case in many hotels. However, when we even asked if it was possible to just have some hot water, we received a brusque response and no attempt to find out if this was possible. Obtaining any basic information from these staff was difficult.

Stayed at this charming place over a quick Thanksgiving trip to BA. The staff was very helpful and courteous. My room (32) was charming and big enough for my needs with a wonderful balcony and ample bathroom/shower. Comfortable bed and the breakfast each morning was excellent. The area is fairly residential but there is plenty to do and see nearby. As others have noted there is no hair dryer nor an alarm clock but for a clean and charming hotel the Art Hotel can't be beat.

  • Liked — The high ceilings, comfortable beds and wonderful balcony.
  • Disliked — No alarm clock.
