The Chacarita Cemetery is a window into Argentina's culture, history and soul. Dark, forboding, and of course suffused with death. One is reminded of the frailty of being mortal, and the fleeting nature of life. Most of the cemetery's vaults lie beneath the ground, and are accessed by descending stairways. Much bigger than the Recoleta cemetery, this is where the ordinary Argentinian spends eternity. Worth a visit.
