Ron Mueck an Australian hyperrealist sculptor was the main exhibit on display when we visited PROA. If you are in BA, check it out.

“Cool facility -- very unsafe neighborhood”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

The Fundacion Proa is a beautifully designed modern building. In one building are a nice bookstore and cool restaurant. We ate at the restaurant -- acceptable food -- service was a bit slow. The design is MoMA-esque -- big glass window looking onto the harbor, wooden floors that seem to pick up the harbor theme. Unfortunately, the exhibition was closed when we were there so I can't comment on that. The real excitement of this visit came afterwards -- when my husband and I were attacked in the street by a gang of around 4-5 guys. This occurred not 1/2 block from the Proa and the Caminito street. We literally could see the tourists from where we were attacked, and there were many police in the tourist area. I was thrown to the sidewalk -- it seemed like they wanted to put me out of the picture -- and my husband was thrown to the middle of the street, where the gang tried to rip his camera off his neck. We screamed and shouted and fortunately a group of very nice bicyclists (bunch of middle-aged folks touring the area) started toward the melee, and the gang ran off. We were shaken and a bit bruised, but physically okay and still had all of our stuff. The policewoman who we informed immediately just shrugged her shoulders.

“Fundación Proa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Located in a very special neighborhood of Buenos Aires (La Boca), host a number of exhibitions of different artistic topics. Across the street, you may also reach the Quinquela Martin museum, representative of early 20th century painting, depicting immigrants, hard-work in the port area, with amazing colors-
