“Standard small rooms with a lot of charm on the outside!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2013

Very pretty hotel on first entrance but they save all the charm just for the reception. The showers were tiny and the lifts a bit of a pain with two doors. We only stayed one night here but was fine for a late check in and early departure! Staff were helpful.

Stayed for 2 nights. The room was a bit small, but clean and comfortable. The staff were all quite good, but some of the staff spoke little English. The main con was the wifi, it was fairly expensive and the coverage was not great. This hotel is in a great location however, and this more than makes up for some of its shortcomings.

This hotel falls far short of expectations. The shower is absolutely terrible, its almost impossible to shower in such a small space while being constantly being attacked by the shower curtain. Everytime you shower the floor ends up soaked. The room is average, there were large holes in the carpet and the wood was peeling off the bathroom door. Location is good, very close to florida street. Wifi is 50 pesos per day, we were surprised it wasnt free! Not the worst but not the best, i wouldnt stay here again.

This has been a hotel since it was built 160 years ago, with all that implies: charming architecture, basic facilities. There's a dumb waiter serving all floors, on which you can send used room service crockery down to the kitchen, and it is electric. But the breakfast is basic and crowded, the net access WiFi is (reasonably) charged by the hour, and the banging of the elevator cages and doors can be disturbing. Hot water, on the other hand, is copious.

Beds are fine, if narrow. Rooms are warm, but can be aired. Reception staff are helpful, and multi-lingual. Rooms look as though they are gradually being refurbished. Staff will help with booking taxis ahead of time, including to the airport - but check whether you need Ezeiza or the Aeroparque (for domestic traffic and flights to Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay).

The location is the hotel's great advantage - a few steps away from Calle Florida's shops and cafes, an easy stroll to the theatres on Corrientes, and the Subte (underground / metro), buses and taxis to everywhere. And don't be afraid to use the services of the money changers on the street ("Cambio cambio?") Everyone local does, and it's worth it. Or bring as many dollars as you can. The Paris of South America may be down at heel, but its charm is still irresistible.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms near noisy escalator doors - N01 to N06

I stayed one night, effectively in transit - arriving at 2000 and leaving at 1000, so this review is limited. Location is central and good. Reception was efficient and the room small, but adequate for one night only. The window looked out at a wall - not a problem and no street noise ! The bathroom was functional and the shower good. Breakfast was very limited for a hotel with 4 stars on the plaque outside - basically set up in the bar area and with a buffet of basic cold meat, cheese, cereals, bread and jams - oh - the toaster was so slow as to be in reverse ! No lounge are to speak of, just the space in front of the reception desk.

Did the job.

I stayed at this hotel for a second time and found it clean but old looking. Couldn't open the window shutter, but there was nothing to look at anyway. The staff were friendly and I like it because it is near Calle Florida and restaurants.

The locaion is good. Its downtown next to a great shopping mall with a brilliant food court. The staff are helpful. Wifi cost ten american dollars a day! However the wifi connection is good. Breakfast is mediocre but very cheap. Our room was very small. The bathroom
door did not close properly. The shower was tiny! I would describe the accomodation as basic.
