“Huge busy road”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012 via mobile

Was impressed by the scale of the avenue, and of course seeing Obelisco take centre stage. Was a lot of fun trying to cross in one go, but of course was impossible unless you run like a athlete! Casa rosada and other attractions are a nearby walk

“Wide street”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2012 via mobile

This is a fairly centrally located street and good to see due to its size. It is one of the widest streets on the planet and the traffic can be very hectic. The obelisk is situated in the middle and it is very close to parliament and casa rosada

“Long walk across”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

It's worth going across this avenue - to say you've done it. And along this avenue - for a look at the many interesting landmarks along the way. The way the traffic negotiates each lane is pretty impressive. Playing chicken springs to mind as those with the most confidence get through. Having crossed the road, photographed the road and marveled at the road we were then told by our guide that in fact the widest avenue is in Brazil but that the Argentinians prefer to ignore this fact? Do not worry - 9 de Julio is impressive in its own right - cross it to say you made it before the lights changed!

“It is a road, a BIG road”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

Really other than seeing the world's widest road there's not much else to say. It is massive, it will take about 5 minutes to cross it because you have so many waits.

“You haven't been to Buenos Aires until you've crossed this Street...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

...see if you can do it within one light change by walking!

I'm told it used to be a normal city block, but that was demolished to create the 'widest street in the world'. This is why each side has its own street name (Cerrito and Carlos Pelligrini).

The street has the Times Square/Picadilly Circus vibe going on, so enjoy the Latin American advertisements up on the billboards, and the Evita Stencil on the white Edificio del Ministerio de Salud (beware, it's on both sides!). You also can't miss a photo opportunity of the Obelisk.

There are places to stop for a drink or whatnot, but I don't recommend it. It's a busy thoroughfare for Bs As traffic. Also, be aware that the green bits between the lanes often include some of the typical characters looking to make some pesos on the passerby.
