We just stayed here and found it a great value for money in the heart of the shopping district in Buenos Aires. Its white columned facade opens into an oasis from the noise and traffic. The staff is excellent, from sweet bellboys and breakfast attendants and a pool attendant who was helping a guest learn how to dive. In some 5-star hotels, the staff act snobby or, at the other extreme, obsequious, whereas here they are genuinely friendly. We had a corner room on a high floor that faced the pool, and it was spacious, impeccably clean, and nicely furnished. Request a pool-facing rather than street-facing room to avoid street noise, and if you get a small room as some here have complained, just request another. The room had free wireless internet and the maid put in Xmas cakes at night, which was a nice touch. Fine pool area too, bigger than other BA city hotels we know, and breakfast was much better than other 5-star Argentine hotels we stayed in. It's considerably cheaper than Marriott, Sheratons, Sofitel, Park Hyatt, and others we checked. Had worried about room being shabby or small after reading some critics here, but not at all. My only caveat would be that if you want quiet and trees or a residential district, this downtown area is not for you.

The Claridge is a charming hotel with an excellent central location in Buenos Aires' Microcentro. The personnel is helpful and competent , there is a nice swimming-pool and a good restaurant.

Standard rooms are unfortunalety a little small, if you plan a longer stay, invest in a superior room or a little suite.

Excellent value for your money.

We stayed at the Claridge the first 4 nights of our honeymoon. The first room they put us in was pretty small, so the next night we moved to a larger room on a higher floor. The rooms were clean and nice and most of the hotel staff spoke English. We didn't feel the level of service was that of a 4 star hotel, however, it was a great value for the money. The location of the hotel is right off the main street with tons of retail stores, so if shopping is your thing, then this hotel might be your best option! It was probably a bit more bustling than we would've liked. The hotel did a nice job of getting us tickets to a tango show and recommending restaurants around the area. If you don't want to spend a lot on a hotel, but still want to stay in a nice place, then I would recommend the Claridge.

After reading all the reviews we booked the Claridge from Dec 19 through the 22nd. Our reception was excellent. The staff is very organized and professional. Our room was very nice but the bathrooms are too small to maneuver. We did have a balcony though which was nice. The breakfast has many choices so you will find something that suits your tastes. The pool area is wonderful and has staff to take lunch and drink orders. We hung out here most of the time. The concierge was fantastic and booked us a Tango show with dinner that was lovely. They also made us dinner reservations at Las Lilas ( the best steak house in town, I think). They also had drivers take us out and pick us up when we were ready to come home. The taxis are a little dodgy so having the hotel arrainge our transport was a comfort and not too expensive. All in all we will come here again. They made us feel right at home and catered to all our requests. We will be coming back next year we hope!

We booked this hotel at the last minute and it is everything everyone else says. The service (especially the concierge) is amazing, the rooms are clean and quiet and the location can't be beat. The breakfast buffet is great as well. We will return again.
