After reading reviews on this site, we finally decided on the Claridge for our three nights in BA. We originally booked through an online site, but scrapped that and rebooked through the Claridge's own site when they put up a "last minute" savings--making each night only $110 (US). The only problem was that they got confused that we cancelled the other reservation, and ended up cancelling both as well as our car that we had arranged to pick us up at the hotel. Needless to say, after arriving on an overnight flight, the weekend did not get off to a great start... And when we did get into a room (they allowed early check in, thank goodness), it was constant construction sounds. We experienced those all weekend, as I can see from other reviews many people did.
Having said all that, the Claridge definitely made up for these shortcomings. I agree with the previous poster completely, that it is a great four (not five) star hotel. The business capabilites lacked a little, but we found the rest of our stay more than charming. I thought the breakfast buffet (with English news!) was great, and the gym was well above average in equipment, but a little cramped for space. We loved having a cocktail before going out for dinner in the bar, which made great drinks in a quaint atmosphere.
The location was great, right off Florida Ave, and a nice walk from Puerto Madero where we enjoyed the best steak dinner of our lives!
The employees were friendly and helpful. After feeling terrible about the car situation getting into BA, they gave us a free lift to the airport when leaving and were happy to assist in any way they could.
So, we didn't get as much sleep as we would have liked, but with only three nights in BA, who has time for sleep???

Okay, let's cut to the chase: the Claridge Hotel is a four-star hotel trying enthusiastically (but, utlimately, vainly) to come off as five-star . . . but there's many worse things that one can say about hotels than that, so all in all we'd definitely recommend it!

My wife and I stayed there recently on holiday and - while we've gotten spoiled staying at true five-star hotels on work travel in ctieis such as Sydney, Johannesburg, Santiago, and Hanoi - were generally quite pleased with the experience.

PLUSES: Great location, overall extremely helpful staff (particular kudos to Pablo at the concierge station), lots of amenities (e.g., buffet breakfast included, free internet at business centre, late check-out without extra charge, etc.).

CONS: Slightly faded feel, some staff (but only a couple here and there) are less helpful than others, the amenities aren't quite the top-of-the-line deal (e.g., buffet breakfast was only so-so, the free internet at the business centre was tied up most of the day by teenagers playing video games, the massages at the spa were good but the facial was amateurish, etc.). The worst thing was that pipes had burst on one entire floor of the hotel, so starting very early in the morning and for most of the day there was very loud banging and clanging throughout the hotel - even floors away. No apologies were made for this, which is unfair at best and poor customer service at worst.

Don't, though, get the wrong idea: the sum of all this is not to say that the Claridge Hotel is not a good place to stay; but, rather, to note that it's got room to improve. But, having said that, taking into account the location, the price (at least when we stayed), and especially the attentive ways of the majority of the staff, it's a super place to stay in Buenos Aires! (After all, what are the chances that the pipes will have just burst again when you stay there?!!)

Stayed here for 4 nights in early July. My flight was delayed by 6 hours but at the airport the driver was there with my name on his piece of paper. The hotel could not be in a better location; the staff were very welcoming and, yes it did have a very English feel (welcome after a very long flight).
The room was clean, the bed very comfortable, the buffet breakfast was excellent with fruit, meats, cheeses, lots of cereals with milk or delicious pourable youghurts (can I buy that in the UK?), pastries plus 4 hot dishes which varied each day.
It was winter in BA so the air con was off but I thought the room was a bit warm however with a large open window all was well and even though I was at the front I slept well so noise couldn't have been a problem!
Overall, as others have said, look no further! It's difficult to write a review of this hotel since everything was very good and finding anything to criticise is virtually impossible.

Just returned from a wonderful 4 day stay at the Claridge Hotel in Buenos Aires and cannot fault it at all. It is situated right off Calle Florida, one of the main shopping streets, but from inside you wouldn't know it. The exterior and interior of the building are beautiful and very well preserved. You feel as if stepping back a little in time. The breakfast/dining area is decorated and furnished traditionally but stylishly. Some aspects are very reminiscent of early 20th century Britain, indeed the breakfast area has an almost Scottish air, with wooden panelled walls, large rather gothic lighting over the tables and stags heads on the wall to boot! Breakfast itself is extensive, catering for continental and British tastes alike. The rooms are of a very high standard, complete with ensuite bathroom, minibar and TV with 100 or so multilingual channels. Rooms are cleaned extremely well and always smell fresh. The whole hotel has a very fresh and fragrant smell about it. The staff are polite and do speak English but only at the front desk. It was always easy to get a taxi to Palermo or Recoleta, or wherever, from the hotel and very cheap at around 6-10 pesos (£1-1.50). All in all, I would thoroughly recommend this hotel - extremely good value for money.

This is the only place to stay in Buenos Aires. The location is great, one block from Florida. Includes breakfast buffet. Wonderful English lobby bar, professional locals stop in for afterwork drink. Sauna, massage, exercise room, outdoor pool. Free internet at business center. Helpful staff, great concierge. Room was well appointed and very clean. Walls are padded, very quiet for uninterrupted sleep. Pillows just right, comfortable mattress. Marble baths with tile floors. I could find nothing to complain about.
