After reading reviews on this site, we finally decided on the Claridge for our three nights in BA. We originally booked through an online site, but scrapped that and rebooked through the Claridge's own site when they put up a "last minute" savings--making each night only $110 (US). The only problem was that they got confused that we cancelled the other reservation, and ended up cancelling both as well as our car that we had arranged to pick us up at the hotel. Needless to say, after arriving on an overnight flight, the weekend did not get off to a great start... And when we did get into a room (they allowed early check in, thank goodness), it was constant construction sounds. We experienced those all weekend, as I can see from other reviews many people did.
Having said all that, the Claridge definitely made up for these shortcomings. I agree with the previous poster completely, that it is a great four (not five) star hotel. The business capabilites lacked a little, but we found the rest of our stay more than charming. I thought the breakfast buffet (with English news!) was great, and the gym was well above average in equipment, but a little cramped for space. We loved having a cocktail before going out for dinner in the bar, which made great drinks in a quaint atmosphere.
The location was great, right off Florida Ave, and a nice walk from Puerto Madero where we enjoyed the best steak dinner of our lives!
The employees were friendly and helpful. After feeling terrible about the car situation getting into BA, they gave us a free lift to the airport when leaving and were happy to assist in any way they could.
So, we didn't get as much sleep as we would have liked, but with only three nights in BA, who has time for sleep???
