My husband and I stayed at the Claridge one night pre-cruise and two nights post cruise recently (Feb-March 2008) and were happy with the accommodations. We paid $153 US a night which is a lot less than the big chain hotels charge in Buenos Aires. The rooms were small compared to North American standards, but the bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. (only Spanish channels on tv, but that was no big deal) The free wireless and wired internet worked well (bring a data cable for the wired and an Argentine plug) in the room and also in the business center. The pleasant gym, and pool area was also clean and comfortable. This would be nice place to spend time waiting til it is time to go the airport. (Make sure to leave yourself about 3 hours to complete all the requirements of leaving from the Buenos Aires airport) We enjoyed the included breakfast buffet and sitting around in the cool bar for our room to be ready pre-check-in and after check-out on the day we left. The front desk staff and concierge all spoke very good English and were extremely pleasant and helpful with storing our baggage before check-in and after check-out, giving directions, cashing traveler’s checks, and organizing cabs to the port for the cruise and to the airport. As well, their suggestions and arrangements for restaurants and city tours were bang-on. The hotel is just 100 yards or so away from the touristy pedestrian mall-shopping district on Florida St. (watch out for pick-pockets).

An excellent hotel bang in the centre of Buenos Aires and so convenient for shopping, eating, metro, palace, Madero waterfront etc.
....all within walking distance.Do try and get a superior room and as high as possible, then there is little traffic noise. The small bathrooms have been mentioned and ours really was minute and only accomodated one of us at a time, but the main room was quite large for a city centre hotel.
Slight drawbacks are the queue for breakfast (excellent) if you happen to arrive at 'rush hour', and the same for the two small lifts that at times are inadequate for a hotel of this size. The staff are friendly and will help you with bookings, recommendations and reservations.
All in all a good choice if you want to be in the heart of the old city.

The Claridge is old school and it looks & acts like it. It's kind of dowdy and could use a makeover, but I suspect they think it's "traditional" aspects make it attractive to the English, if not Americans. Very much a home-away-from-home place, if you're used to staying in places that your grandparents might have stayed at.

The hotel is in a prime location that provides an easy walk down to the revitalized Puerto Madero area and also the Florida shopping area (beware of pickpockets there!). Rooms were average, I thought. Had a problem on the first night where they stuck us with a double bed, although we had asked specifically for 2 singles - they couldn't fix the problem, which didn't make me happy.

The pool area on the 2nd floor is a nice oasis in the city.

This hotel is conveniently located near the pedestrian shopping street, Florida. It is in a very congested area with very heavy traffic. Having requested a quiet room, we were facing the back and overlooked the pool. We were on the 10th floor so noise was not a problem.

The room was appointed beautifully. It was quite large and had beautiful drapes and bedspread. The staff was extremely courteous and attentive and the concierge very helpful.

The only caviat I have is when walking three bocks to the recommended restaurant at night we had to pass people sorting through trash. We were told by concierge that it would be no problem and in all truthfulness it was not. I would recommend a taxi to whereever you choose to go which is what we did other than this one night . By day the area is just fine.

The buffet breakfast was very nice and the hotel amenities i.e. lobby and restaurant were beautiful.

If this hotel were in a better area I would give it five stars but I think the location brings it down to a four. .

Booked the Claridge based on recommendations from this site - excellent location and value. Good breakfast included. The pool was fantastic. Hot weather our AC only worked fair at best. Good size rooms - a little dated. Not a 5 star hotel but an excellent value and location. We would definitely stay here again! Staff and conceirge was very helpful and nice!
