I stayed at the Claridges hotel on a budget around the world trip - I had decided before leaving that I would treat myself to an expensive hotel in one city on the journey, and I chose Buenos Aires - I'm glad I did!
The hotel itself is very impressive looking from the outside, it is on a side street off one of the main shopping roads (florida street), so location wise it is perfect for exploring the city. We found it an excellent base within the city, and walked everywhere. I would definatly describe it as a very British hotel, they even did a sunday dinner whilst we were there (DON''T have the yorkshire puddings, they are sweet!!)
The bar area is lovely and very relaxing, though not cheap. But the cocktails are fabulous!
The rooms are spacious and airy, with good views of the city. Good powerful showers also, which I feel is quite important. We were very impressed with the staff, they are very helpful in organizing things for you, for example tango shows; we were given detailed descriptions of locations/budgets etc, and also their personal opinions, which I appreciate.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Buenos Aires but be warned, the internet is SHOCKING! There were 3 computers in the room when we were there, which constantly crashed. It was rather frustrating, so if you do go, I would say do not bother trying as you find yourself restarting over and over again, convinced that they will work, but alas, no! There are however some very cheap internet cafes about 5minutes away, which were fully sufficient.
Have fun!
