Owner description: Architectural landmarks in the city’s oldest neighborhood have been restored, and this revitalized area is distinctly artistic, with cafes, antique shops, cobblestone streets and lots of artists and dancers.

“What's all the fuss about?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Had lots of people tell me to come here. Can't quite figure out why. I thought it was a bit dull, not much to do.

“Weekend wonders....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Weekend markets have lots of handcrafts and pre loved goods. Lots of bars and cafes in side streets, better priced. Tango, drums, guitars create a great atmosphere

“so much history”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

What an unique part of Buenos Aires, with so much history, and so much to see and take pictures of. Oldest barrio in BA, cobblestone streets, tango dancers, etc.

“save your money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

I found this to be a flea market with questionable quality. The prices were high and probably a lot of fakes are on display. The real antiques are located in the shops and the prices prohibitive.

“Great fun on a Sunday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

Thought sophisticated visitors like to criticize the street market - and it's true that there are virtually no genuine "antiques" to be found there (tho there are in the nearby antique shops) - there's a good ambiance during the Sunday market, and the buildings lining the street are attractive, if starting to run down. Be sure to head to Plaza Dorrego, which seems to be the "heart" of the market, and it's nicest area. You can sit outside at one of the funky restos lining the square. And in the square there is usually tango dancing.
