This hotel is part of a larger building that contains travel offices, a newspaper chain and a number of different stores on a busy intersection. My room was located on the third floor, facing the other side, a dark street lined with a huge office building, forcing me to keep my curtains drawn at all times. This probably contributed to my relative dissatisfaction. I would recommend insisting on a room on higher floors.

The hotel was slightly shaby with respect to standards expected from HI and from its location in Puerto Madero. Also, I had problems with the WiFi connection in the room.

On the brighter side, the employees were universally helpful and friendly and the hotel provides an excellent breakfast.

My wife and I were here for ten nights and can find almost nothing negative to say about it. We were in a room facing the port on a high floor so were not bothered by street noise and had a great view. Our room was fairly large and quite comfortable.

The staff at the front desk are oriented to business travelers (seemed that most of our fellow guests were there for conferences and meetings) but they still tried hard to take care of us, as well. They were all pleasant, spoke good english and didn't laugh at my poor spanish efforts! They can't really function as the concierge in a 5 star hotel but they do pretty well.

The hotel's breakfast buffet is not great and needs to be improved. Most diabetics would have a really hard time here at breakfast. On the other hand, it is palatable and plentiful and perhaps I am overly critical.

The location is the great thing here. Across a couple of open blocks from the Port (Puerto Madero) it makes all those very fine restaurants a 10 minute walk from the hotel and Plaza de Mayo is only a ten minute walk in the other direction. Calle Florida is also nearby and most of the other downtown tourist sites are equally close.

The staff does an excellent job of getting radio cabs for you and they are very protective. We had no incidents of any kind in Buenos Aires, regardless of neighborhood, though we did heed advice of the guidebooks about staying out of certain places at night. I must add here that all of the anti-americanism you saw on television during the Bush visit was just that...on television. During our ten days in Argentina, the only rude people we met were equally rude to other Argentines and the vast majority of people were kind, helpful and said lots of nice things about our country. We really loved the people we met in Argentina.

Cabs again, are cheap, plentiful and rarely do they take tourists on a tour. We would go back to BA any time!
