I give this hotel 5 stars, not for the amenities that the hotel has got, but because it was exactly what I was looking for and didn't disappoint.
Central location, 200 yards from Buquebus for a MUST visit to Colonia.
100 yards from Pacifico Mall and Florida Street for shopping. 200 yards from dozens of top restaurants in the newly renovated riverfront at Puerto Madero.
Short taxi ride to Recoleta and San Telmo. I chose this hotel also for the fact that they have rooms with two double beds, which was important to me with a teenager. Inexpensive in room internet, $7 per day, free in the business center. Includes comprehensive free buffet breakfast.
Has a 24 hour "honor system" market, where you can self serve yourself with inexpensive sandwiches, beer, soft drinks, hot and cold snacks, ice cream, free 24 hour coffee/tea.
Has very large free (to guests) lockers in the lower basement, which was great for us as we left a couple of cases when we visited Mendoza.
All the front desk staff are friendly, helpful and speak good English.
Safe, iron, cable TV.
Returned to the Holiday Inn Express from Uruguay and it felt like coming home.
Would definitely recommend this hotel, but only when the price can be booked for around $100 - 120. Above that they are competing with other hotels in the area that have more facilities like Hilton and Sheraton, so make the comparisons, because at one point while we were there the Holiday Inn internet price was $170, walk in price was $140 and the Hilton had a deal on at $120
I booked with Priority points, at 10,000 per night, although I notice they have now increased this hotel to 15,000 points per night.
