Just back from 4 nights at the Buenos Aires Hilton. This is a great hotel, with wonderful service and a good location.

Beyond the large comfortable rooms, of note, the service is truly outstanding. You'll find everyone helpful and very eager to make your stay - not only at the hotel but also in BA, as near perfect as possible. From the front desk, to housekeeping, to breakfast servers, to the health center- think of a truly 5 star small hotel.

Take advantage of the front doormen; They have a wealth of information, are happy to assist and in many ways outperform the concierge staff on Buenos Aires tips and tourist advice.

The location has it advantages, restaurants and night life are just outside the door, but is a hike from the SOHO/Hollywood/Serano neighborhoods, though close to Calle Florida and the Casa Rosada/San Telmo areas. Happily cabs are inexpensive and readily available. (The doorman will provide an expected fare as you depart the hotel so no worries about random drives around the city)

The pool is spectacular while the gym beats any other I've seen - even the exclusive Sports Club LA operations. You'll find the staff helpful and eager to assist in the gym or just ordering another drink poolside :)

The breakfast buffet is very very good, with eggs cooked to order, and an outstanding selection of meats, juices, breads, sweets, smoked salmon and fresh fruits. However if breakfast isn't included in your room rate, it can be a bit pricey at $15 USD..
Likewise, Internet access from the rooms is ridiculously expensive, though computers in the business center are free for quick checks of e-mail or web checks for airline/restaurant information.

Some earlier reviews have mentioned charm: The hotel is international in style. It has a crisp and professional standard, my sense was that it is much more European than American- but in many ways it is like BA itself- A mix of European and American, an outstanding value overall.

I got back today after a 6 night stay at the Hilton BA.
I think the Hotel is in a great location, vey safe, withing walking distance to outstanding restaurants, no less that 50 or 60 of them.
Less that $5 cab ride to any place in the tourist circuits.
The Hotel is of the international style, you really could be anyhwre in the world. The excecutive level has one of the best breakfast service I had ever had in any hotel.
The rooms are big, clean, with walk in closet, and great bathrooms. The could use a renewal of the towels.
Overall this is a great place to stay in a great city.

After researching Buenos Aires hotels on tripadvisor and through contacts, I selected the Hilton for several reasons based on the recommendations of many coworkers who've stayed there. The hotel is new, in a modern style that you'd expect in the U.S. Both the room and bathroom were large, with a walk-in shower and separate tub. We booked the less expensive twin room, but it was very nice and spacious--even better than expected.

The Hilton staff were exceptionally friendly, from the concierges, bellmen, front desk, cocktail lounge staff, cleaning people and telephone receptionists. We asked a lot of questions, and they cheerfully made dinner and tango reservations for us, recommended shopping malls, and called taxis for us. Plus most spoke English, and if they didn't they called someone over to assist. The business center offers 15-30 (?) minutes of free internet access per day, which was very convenient to confirm flights and check e-mail.

The hotel is located in Puerto Madero, the trendy new area in Buenos Aires. The area was very safe, with Navy guards and police positioned all over the area esp. at night. I agree with another member that the area is "newer" than what you might look for when visiting Buenos Aires, but this upscale location is a $2-$4 cab ride from almost anywhere in BA, and most people take taxis at night anyhow. Calle Florida was within walking distance during the day, and one of the best Argentine beef restaurants in BA (Cabana las Lilas) is only a few blocks away.

The hotel was clean, new, and quiet (unlike soome of the reviews I've read at some other hotels), plus has a beautiful rooftop deck and pool even late in the day.

For tango shows, we went to Esquina Carlos Gardel. The venue was very traditional and it was a good show, but we ate our only bad meal in BA there. For 70 USD per person (steep for BA), you get transportation to/from the hotel, unlimited wine and coffee, appetizer, entree, and dessert. (Only caveat is the main course was terrible, and reserving through the concierge didn't get us preferred seating--we sat at the back of a room of 450 people although we could still see fine.) A show "Tango Para Dos" was recommended by a professional tango couple and another European couple that we met (google Tango X 2.) The show's performed in a theater; they raved about it and said there were few tourists and many portenos. The website doesn't list a show schedule, but I would definitely try to see this based on the feedback.

Airport - the security line at EZE airport is loooong, allow plenty of time to get through security and immigration (45 minutes to an hour, plus check-in.)

Currency/Counterfiet money - thanks for the advice on using peso coins to pay cab drivers. This worked well for us, as well as holding up the paper money up to show watermark before we paid to confirm it's not counterfeit. Get your money from the ATM at the airport, then go the small bank branch in the airport to get smaller coins and denominations at no charge (the bank staff were very friendly and gave us a printout re: counterfeit bills.)

It's very helpful to know some Spanish in BA. It wasn't like going to Europe where many speak English, but almost everyone we met was extremely friendly and helpful to tourists, for which we are grateful!

Just returned from 3 weeks in Buenos Aires. Stayed at both Sheratons, Art Hotel, and the Hilton. The Hilton was the best of the four hotels I stayed in...new, clean, and with a great gym. And, while the concierge was not particularly helpful, the rest of the staff was very friendly...especially the guys out front hailing cabs, helping with luggage, etc.

While I would not describe this hotel as having any charm, it is a great place to say in Buenos Aires. My only realy complaint is that I don't love Puerto Madero...too new and commercial. In other words, from this hotel, it is a relatively long walk to the best restaurants, shopping, etc. in BA. But, still a good place to stay...the area is just a little too new for my tastes.

We just returned yesterday from a stay in the Hilton Buenos Aires between Christmas and New Year's. Although we don't usually splurge with hotels, we booked a room on the executive level. It was very large, clean, and satisfactory in every way. Having a separate shower and bathtub made it easier for us to get ready in the mornings. Breakfast, soft drinks all day, and afternoon snacks in the executive lounge are included in the room rate. The lounge is a quiet place for breakfast that overlooks the pool and is much more pleasant than a large restaurant. You can also eat on the balcony outside, which is shaded and reserved exclusively for guests who stay on the executive floors. The afternoon "happy hour" included ham, smoked salmon, shrimp salads, cheeses, etc. It could easily replace dinner for many travelers. The Hilton is located near the yacht club and on a long promenade that borders the river. Good restaurants are everywhere, and Florida Street is within a few blocks of easy walking. Members of the hotel staff speak excellent English, and our experience was thoroughly enjoyable.
