Just came back from a 3 night stay at the El Presidente Hotel in Buenos Aires. I don't know how this hotel can call itself a 4 star hotel. Maybe 20 years ago it was, but by today's standards it is certainly no more than a 2 star hotel. The hotel is in dire need of a renovation. For example, the furnishings had to be at least 25 years old. The bedspread was faded and the mattresses were old and thin. The carpet was dingy and faded as well. The towels were paper thin and in such short supply that when the maids removed them from the room every day in the morning they never had enough clean ones to replace them. Every evening we had to call the front desk multiple times to get more towels. The air conditioning barely worked even when on the highest settings. The room decor was unimaginative and even somewhat depressing. Although the location is good, I would never return to this hotel or recommmend it.

The Presidente Hotel is not what I taught it would be. I had a deluxe room reservation. I hate to see a ROH room. The room was small and dusty. The only people that were friendly and helpful were at the reception desk. The breakfast is included in your rate, however; you better get ready to wait 10 minutes for someone to come and offer you a cup of coffee. The people at this hotel overall were not friendly, especially the reservations and customer service people located at this hotel. The city itself is beautiful and safe. You can walk for miles and miles with something to see all the time. The city is great. I would recommend the Fudors Buenos Aires guide; it helped us a great deal. The taxi cost around $2.00 us dollars from one point to the next.
Please do yourself a favor and do not book this hotel. There are many great hotels that would make Buenos Aires a better place to visit.

I have stayed at the Presidente on 4 separate occasions, with each experience worse than the previous. Having learned my lesson, I will now make my future reservations at the Hotel Las Americas.

The location of the Presidente is great, right on 9 de Julio, the lobby is large and impressive. The breakfast buffet is nearly a work of art. Having said that, I must say that the rooms are disappointing. On my last stay - my wife's first trip to Buenos Aires - we arrived at our room to find the bed broken, laying askew on the floor. We went back to the lobby and requested another. I honestly believe they sent us to a room that was designated for storage. There was a visible coating of dust on everything, the room smelled as though it had not been opened in months. Again, back to the lobby. The third room had walls that had been water-stained and the furniture had seen better days but we had wearied of the trip to and from the lobby, so we stayed there. We had arrived late, so we ordered room service. An hour later, when our food finally arrived, we found it cold and inedible.

I'll not bother to share the details of my previous stay other than to say that the staff would not honor the price that I had been quoted and were rude about the entire matter. Since I needed the room for only a night and was too tired to try to find something else I gave in. I should have learned my lesson by then.

Great looking hotel at a great location, but save yourself the aggravation. This great city has too many other outstanding places to stay.
