NH Jousten

The NH Jousten is centrally located but I would not think of this as a "tourist" hotel. I stayed there for business, so perhaps my opinion
is a bit skewed.

There is no doubt that I ended up with a bad draw when it comes to rooms. I was in room 103, on the first floor, off the side of the building facing the side street. It wasn't apparent to me until the next morning that this room is also very close to, if not next to the
very small workout room. The "thump, thump, thump" of someone on the treadmill was an early morning wake up call. If you are going to stay
here, don't take a room on the first floor, especially near the workout room -- be forewarned.

I did catch a bit of luck as my room faced the side street and not the main street. However, it was still noisy. I don't know what it was like for rooms that faced the main street, and I don't know if it gets quieter as you go higher in the hotel, but if you are seeking
a truly quiet hotel, this is something you should consider.

The breakfast was downstairs, and was nothing to write home about. Although it was included in the room rate, in general, I would give it a 1* rating -- not very good quality food and if you missed it, you didn't miss much.

The room was fairly clean, the bed had a sign on it telling me that it was a "special" bed that makes your stay at the NH "special". It was ok, but nothing special. The Air Con didn't work well for me, and
opening the window wasn't a good idea as the traffic noise was too high for comfort.

Catching taxis was fairly straightforward as you are on a main street. You are also about 15 minutes by walking away from the Obelisk and you can walk from the Obelisk to the NH via the pedestrian mall. I did this a few times, ate dinner on the mall, and in general felt safe. I do recommend that you have "situational awareness" as petty crime has been reported and one of my co-workers had an incident.

Overall, if you are not expecting much, you will not be disappointed.
This is a 2 1/2* hotel -- OK in general, but could easily be better.

Great two nights in hotel. Great location for the city and close to superb dining. I was surprised the hotel was so good because the rates are much better than the major US chains. Room was clean, new decoration and furniture. Staff were first class. I have already booked this hotel for my next visit in Nov.

Do not stay at this hotel.
The area is covenient to PM but otherwise it is not an ideal location. As a tourist I did not feel safe walking at night and there was no where in the area to go for dinner, etc.
My husband and I also had major room problems. The lights went on throughout the night and the shower handle fell off when we went to use. The hotel was depressing and not worth the money.

“Stylish modern hotel in classic building; good value”

Most hotels in this Spanish-owned chain share the same interior design: stylishly modern, a touch minimalist, yet very comfortable. The NH Jousten is no exception, and is a very successful, chic "rebuild" of a lovely Art Deco building on av. Corrientes in downtown Buenos Aires, next to the Post Office and a few minutes walk from Puerto Madero. Rooms are medium-sized, comfortably furnished, with very good bathrooms and a lot of closet space; they are well-insulated from outside noise. Staff are helpful and efficient throughout. There is a large, airy lobby with a nice bar just adjacent. The restaurant is on the lower ground floor, where an excellent buffet breakfast is served; at other times an a la carte menu is offered, and the restaurant is noted for its excellent dinners (although we didn't dine there in the evening). The Jousten is great value for money. My only reservation about it is the location: during the day it is very convenient, but at night this area of the city can feel comparatively deserted and some may find it a little spooky. Nevertheless, on both occasions on which we stayed there during December (for 4 days), the NH Jousten proved to be an excellent choice.

We spent one week at this NH in late Oct 06 and found it very comfortable. The decor is contemporary, the room was nice and very clean, comfortable bed. The staff was helpful and the location is good, very close to Puerto Madero (great restaurants) and to the shopping in Calle Florida. What I liked the most was the breakfast: a fantastic assortment of pastries, cakes, fruits, hams, cheeses and warm dishes, really really good!
The only problem is that it on a street with a lot of traffic, but we had a room high up and noise was not a problem.
