To start, my husband and I booked our three night stay at the Malabia House on the day we ended up there! We didn't love the hotel (shall remain unnamed since they were kind enough to let us out without penalty) we had planned to stay in, so we called Malabia after hearing good things about it and also knowing how fabulous the location is. We were initially greeted by Lisi, who is staff at Malabia House. Lisi is extraordinary. She was sweet and accommodating to us during this unplanned move to Malabia. Her English was perfect, as was the rest of the staff's too. We only speak limited Spanish, so it helped us a lot. The price was reasonable, the rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was nice, and very social in a family style table set-up. The ONLY drawback to the hotel is that the bathrooms are very, very small and that there are windows facing the sometimes noisy hallway. But, for the most part the noise was minimal, especially after 9pm and before 9am. I would highly recommend this hotel for couples visiting Buenos Aires who are on a budget but want a nice, clean, stylish hotel.

What a wonderful way to be introduced to the luxury of an era gone by....Buenos Aires needs to use this property as a benchmark of what is to be expected in a world standard for boutique hotels. From the beginning with the registration process, right through to the assistance required to secure soccer(football) tickets, the style and elegance of the property matched the refinement of its staff. The rooms are simple yet sophisticated and the appointments of its gardens, and sitting room made it feel like a home away from home. Kudos to the owners who have not forgotten any detail....

  • Liked — Its refinement and location
  • Disliked — there was nothing that could deter me from returning

We stayed here at the end of October for our first (and definetely not last) trip to Argentina. To be honest, we had mixed opinions about this place. As others have said, the service here was amazing. The young, energetic staff went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. No detail was overlooked. We also loved the neighborhood feel to this place. We felt very much a part of the local culture which is very hard to reproduce when on vacation.
Unfortunately, we were dissapointed with the accomodations themselves. We stayed in the room with the bathroom en-suite. The room was tiny and the bathroom was even smaller (basically a closet with a dingy shower and toilet). The common areas were very tastefully done but they should have taken the time to update their guest rooms also.
We loved Buenos Aires but will probably stay somewhere else next time.

I feel like this review should have two rating categories - one for staff (five star) and one for the property (two star at best). I am confused by the many five star reviews this property gets on tripadvisor. The location was good, the staff was beyond friendly and spoke perfect English. However, these two things don't make up for the fact that the rooms are not good. Not big, pretty noisy, and with the smallest bathrooms I have ever seen in a mid-range hotel. Not terribly clean either unfortunately. The breakfast was decent, I liked talking to the other guests although it did get pretty crowded in the dining room. Our friends were staying at Vain and it seemed a little better for the same price. Last year I stayed at Home and it was worlds better for an even cheaper price. I feel like a few hotels I have stayed at based on raving tripadvisor reviews have been serious disappointments. I'm not sure if it's a case of inflated expectations or inflated reviews, but I wouldn't recommend staying at the Malabia House.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Malabia house in November 2007 for four nights on the first leg of our trip to Argentina. I highly reccomend this hotel. The staff is EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND FRIENDLY!!!! The rooms are clean and spacious and the location in BA is perfect. The only drawback is that your bathroom is outside the bedroom (one room has the bathroom inside the room). At first it's a bit weird, but you quickly get used to it. The bathroom is private and you get a nice bathrobe for the quick 15 step journey from room to toilet.

Overall, I definitely reccomend the Malabia house!
