I've stayed at the Wilton twice: September, 2005 and January, 2006......
The rooms are not that great other than the bathrooms: sounds weird, but the room itself is almost utilitarian, hard and crunchy bedspread and hard and crunchy blanket but the bathrooms are spotless and the shower pressure is amazingly "rejuvinating".........
The staff varies from extremely helpful and friendly (Alfredo, night desk), to harried and somewhat "[--]." The other review that noted that the staff is somewhat "confused" is appropriate: the day desk is all a-buzz with many people all of whom seem slightly judgemental yet nobody seems to have the same answer for any question although they all seem to pull some "airs"...the first time I was there the car they called for me back to Ezeiza airport just wanted to be paid and there were several furtive phone conferences and rolled eyes to me, to the driver, all because someone on the staff told me to pay the HOTEL for the ride to Ezeiza.........it all worked out in the end but was a little dramatic.........
But the bottom line is that this place is in a GREAT location...........if you are gay, as I am, there's a bar right next door and another across the street.........there's cable, and those amazingly clean and lovely bathrooms, and room service is very friendly and I'm going back in August to BA and again booked this place because of location and the fact that when the staff IS awesome they are VERY awesome and when they aren't, they are, well, kind of funny...........it isn't like you ever get the sense you'll be overcharged or something..........and they are not RUDE, just weirdly "over professional" in many ways during the 9-5 hours.........
A little uneven but given the location and yes the bathrooms, quite a score because yes, on Hotels or through Expedia this place is QUITE a bargain and again, IN A GREATTTTTTTTT LOCATION for anyone visiting BA, especially gay men.........less than a block from the heart of Avenida Santa Fe and maybe 4 blocks from 9 de Julio..........
