This a solid four star, business rather than tourist, hotel that is well located in terms of access to the sights of BA, which in the main are only a AR$20-40 (£3-6) taxi ride away. It is located on a busy eight-lane highway but the hotel is well insulated from the noise. The Buquebus port (to Montevideo) is a 15 minute walk away.
All the staff we met were friendly, helpful, well trained and patient – though the security guards around the door seemed to struggle with the monotony of their jobs at times. The guest experience is however tarnished by a lack of attention to detail at breakfast, high wifi charges and a lack of any flexibility around check-in time (probably bureaucratic rather than necessary); a four hour wait can be hard after 20 hours travelling.
The restaurant is lovely, with a huge glazed wall allowing you to enjoy the beautifully designed garden to the rear of the hotel. The standard international hotel buffet was good with cooked and cold options, fruit and pastries. Scrambled eggs were always provided free but any other type of egg cost an extra AR$38 (around £6). "Premium" coffee (from an Nespresso machine!) costs extra. Sad to see several guests each morning trying the locked drawer containing their Nespresso fix. The waiter then explained the additional charge. The guest always decided to put up with the (usually pleasant) standard pot of coffee.
The restaurant staff were quick to take orders for drinks and deal with any requests but as happens in many buffet type environments, staff constantly clearing tables (because they feel uncomfortable if they are not seen to be busy?) tends to spoil the ambience. Coffee was sometimes served lukewarm. Tea was available but was the usual slop one finds in coffee drinking countries, apart from one pot we ordered from an especially sweet waitress who knew how it should be made.
Internet access costs AR$80 (£12) for each 24 hours. Virtually all the local cafes offer free access.
There is an excellent gym, pool and sauna which seems to get very little use in the morning. A coffee machine is provided in the room.
