This lovely property is in a wonderful, quiet, and excellent location within 1 block of many well-known restaurants and exclusive shops. (Much like upper Madison Avenue in NYC)

The Hotel was fantastic from the moment we arrived at 7AM after a long overnight flight and they let us check in right away. The normal check in time is 3:00pm and we were worried as to what we would do until then. No concern at Emperador.

I was so impressed by how friendly and thorough this hotel's employees were that I made it a point to compliment them while I was checking out. The concierge was really great and pointed us in the perfect direction for tours and great places to eat in Buenos Aires

The service was flawless and consistent throughout our stay. Breakfast was included and very good with a great variety of selections.

Everyone who works at the Emperador treats you like you are their only guest.

I really can't think of anything negative to say about this hotel. If I ever come back to Buenos Aires I will stay here. And we fell in love with the city in part because of the hotel.

Air Argentina strike so Delta put us up here for 24 hours. So glad we didn't pay the prices of this hotel since the front desk was very unhelpfu, didn't know what was happening with Delta but were willing to charge them for our stay. Food was not good and the evening meal we had to ask for salads twice, buffet table was completely empty. Head waiter didn't know what to do first so he did nothing. Outrageous prices to eat at this hotel. 17.50 for breakfast and again Delta paid, YEAH. No wonder airline prices are so high, need to cover this type of ripeoff they are charged by hotels. Room very nice but 8.00 for a bottle of water?? unless you come with your own laptop, 20.00 a hour to use theirs and no break if you only use it for 15 minutes. Good location. There were 3 couples and one single lady sent from Delta and we were all told something different about when we were to check out, what to do with luggage until 5:30pm. Hotel front desk needs some training and it is called customer service.

La Empereador is located in a very good location in Buenos Aires. It is in the Recoleta area which has wonderful shopping. We traveled here this December with my two daughters and husband. We were given connecting rooms with a view of The Rio Plata. The rooms are very spacious. They were extremely comfortable. I would stay here again. The staff was very friendly. While it is more of a business type hotel, I felt very comfortable.

  • Liked — The size of the rooms
  • Disliked — Not many children. More geared toward business travelers.

The front desk is always busy and no smiling.
There is no real concierge desk (head porter). every front desk staff is supposed to be a concierge, and finally no one is...
The rooms prices are given by the hotel before the 21% VAT, but they don't precise it before the check out. Beware to the very bad surprise!
The hotel is greedy. For instance, asking a hot chocolate or fried eggs for buffet breakfast is considered as an extra. If you want to keep the "city book" (that you find in every 4-5 stars hotel in the world, about restaurants, shopping, nightlife of the city, etc.), the hotel charge you 40 dollars.
The best force of the hotel is the room service and the laundry.

4 star facility ,1 star service.
I read with apprehension all the reviews that talked about the indifferent attitude of the staff. That was kind. As someone who stays in hotels 150 nights a year, this was the worst and rudest service I have ever seen.

1. I arrived before check-in time after traveling for 17 hours. My request to check in was met with arrogant indifference and I was told to wait hours. Even though I had a speech to deliver soon after, not one finger was lifted to find a room, even a temporary one or to help in any way.
2. At every daylight part of the day, there were long lines at the front desk. There was no order to the lines and some people walked up and were helped and others waited over 30 minutes.
3. While sitting in my room in the afternoon ,a housekeeper put the key in the door and entered without knocking. When realizing someone was in the room, she ran out, Following her into the hallway and asking why she did not knock before entering the room, she apologized and left quickly.
4. Ordered room service and was told it would be 20-30 minutes. After an hour I was told "she is on the way." Another 15 minutes and they conceded the food had never come out of the kitchen but that "my order was in the record." Another 20 minutes and the food (poorly cooked) arrived. They never explained why they lied that the food was on the way. The manager seemed satisfied that the order for the food was in the record and did not seem to care about my point that the transaction is not really completed until the food arrives in my room.
5. Upon checking out and complaining of my rude treatment, the clerk apologized and then proceeded to treat me rudely. She said she was sorry but had absolutely no interest in understanding the nature of my unhappiness.

Do not stay here. I have had many wonderful experiences at other hotels in this great city. This is a hotel that advertisers that it is a 5 star. It needs to shut down and completely retrain its staff. I never felt so happy as when I was free of the hotel.
