The rooms are very small. The beds are dreadful. There is no sound proofing so any noise is magnified. One good thing: the buffet breakfast is great. I would suggest the Aspen Towers for about the same price but wonderful rooms.

This (Sept. 2004) was my first visit to Buenos Aires and I truly lucked out in choosing the Hotel Colon from the available list. While Fodors describes the standard rooms as 'shoe box size', I found them spacious compared to budget rooms in London. My window looked out onto Ave 9 de Julio and the Obelisk from the 3rd floor but there was almost no traffic noise. Everything in the room worked fine and it was cleaned and restocked daily. The staff could not have been more helpful. They made reservations for travel and shows for us and most of the desk staff spoke English. They went overboard to help us with everything and the restaurants that they recommended were all very good, nearby and moderately priced (by U.S. standards, dirt cheap!) The Breakfast room was large and bright with an extensive selection of both hot and cold breakfast items and a very attentive staff. From the front doors to the rooms, the hotel was modern, spotlessly clean and pleasant smelling. Overall, I was quite pleased and would certainly stay there again.
