I stayed at this hotel for 8 weeks during June and July 2008 whilst on business.

Although the outside of this huge building looks impressive and can been seen for miles around, the inside is beginning to show it's age and the rooms are looking a little tired and shabby. It certainly isn't as good as other Sheraton hotels I've stayed in - and the rooms aren't that cheap here.

I had a good sized room on the 14th floor. The room seemed to have been redecorated (badly) many times over the years. However, the bed was comfortable, if somewhat squeaky, great pillows, plenty of hot water, powerful shower, large LCD TV and nice view over the square to Retiro train station.

Cleaning staff were really nice, very friendly and generous with delivering bottled water, chocolates and changing bathroom smellies. A real credit to the hotel.

A few minor complaints:

Breakfast on the ground floor is a joke. There is a very small breakfast room that is badly laid out. If you arrive at peak times you can't even get a seat. Really not good enough. Often no glasses available for the juice and getting served coffee seems hit and miss. Main focus of staff was always the flight crews that regularly stay there, the other guests were just in the way.

There is a much nicer breakfast area on the top floor which is excellent but is an extra cost.

I tried an evening meal in the ground floor restaurant which was reasonably priced. Had a set menu which included a bottle of wine and was good. Generally cheaper to walk a few blocks from the hotel where there's dozens of restaurants and fast food outlets. (The steak house opposite is pricey but amazing quality)

Had a club sandwich the lobby bar. Not so great, so never went again.

Elevators are being replaced right now, so expect them to be slow at peak times.

Laundry is incredibly expensive, it's cheaper to go out and buy new clothes! Pretty fast service if you choose to use it.

Wired and wireless Internet is available but is an extra cost and is expensive. However it's pretty fast once you're on.

Good range of TV channels available with many English language programs.

Always plenty of Taxis lined up outside at all times and the main train station is just over the road.

There are tourist trips that leave from the hotel regularly and can be booked from the reception. The city tour is good fun.

Finally check your bill carefully. For some reason I was charged for breakfast on some days even though it was included in the rate. If you have negotiated discounts before hand, ensure they're applied. The most stupid thing this hotel does is charge your credit card a separate transaction for EACH day stayed rather than a single total charge. Never seen this practice before and I travel frequently!

I had an extended layover in Buenos Aires and decided to spend a Saturday here and sight see. The Sheraton is located on San Martin Ave. close to a Metro stop. I had no problem checking in early on a Saturday morning. The front desk personal was very friendly and helpful during the check in. The room was on the 6th floor overlooking the River. It was well maintained and the bathroom was very clean and stocked with the usual amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, hairdryer and bathrobe and slippers. The bed was comfortable and included many pillows. A safe was in the closet. The only down side was with the environmental control. The unit did not put out much heat, even when turned to maximum and in July it is their winter. I used the hair dryer to heat the bathroom before taking a shower. This hotel is a good base of operations if you want to explore via the Metro. Also Florida Ave. is about 4 blocks from the hotel and there are many good places to eat and shop at. The hotel was wired for WiFi but there was a cost to use it.

After reading all the reviews of the Sheraton BA, I have to admit that I experienced a little bit of everything mentioned during my recent stay during the last week of June. I stayed at this property for 6 nights.
First I booked 2 rooms - 1 for myself and 1 for my nephew. My room was on the Club Floor booked using points and his was on a regular floor paying a sheraton.com rate.
Upon check in to my room, I experienced the loud banging in the room immediately above me (as mentioned in other reviews). I returned to the check-in area and they immediately put me in a different room -admitting that there was construction going on the floor above. Note I arrive at 11 am and they were able to put both of us into room for early check-in - this is commendable after a 10 hour flight from the US.
The Club Floor room as "ok" - but did not include a flat screen tv as promoted on the brochure the hotel personnel handed to me upon check-in OR as mentioned on the website. Not a big deal but they shouldn't promote such things unless it is true in all Club Floor rooms. Overall the bed was very comfortable and the room was comfortable. The high speed wireless internet was a bit slow at times and VERY expensive - at $25 US per day. Also note that the hotel is in the midst of some renovations and this could explain.
The elevators are a minor nuisance.. with 2 of the 6 completely out of service - being replaced. My longest wait for an elevator was probably 2 minutes and this happened once. Usually it was a matter of 20-30 seconds. It was worse in the evening from 7-10pm when there was tons of traffic.
This hotel is very business with convention/conference traffic during the weekdays - which causes some backup during the morning breakfast buffet.
The hotel's facilities are very nice - esp. the fitness center and pools. The staff throughout the hotel were for the most part friendly, efficient and competent (with 1 exception to be explained later).
The hotel's location is perfect. It is walking distance to many of the famous site-seeing areas, including Retiro and Florida street. Even Plaza de Mayo and Congreso are within 25-30 minutes walking although taxis are quick and cheap. Getting a taxi at the Sheraton was very, very easy - always available in the front.
The biggest isse I faced was at check out on the Club Floor which turned into a 20 minute hellish experience. First they charged both myself and my nephew for breakfast everyday - although they clearly gave us documents at check-in which said "breakfast included" in the rate (Club Floor is always included). They did credit my room - but insisted on charging for breakfast (at $30 US per day) for my nephew's room. Unfortunately I did not have the document to prove otherwise. Also the fitness center was charged to my room - although again as part of Club Floor this is included. They credited these charges also. Finally the incompetent man at check out mis-charged my final invoice - charging me somehow for less than 1/2 the total amount. When I very honestly pointed this out - it took him plus 1 other employee a further 10 minutes to figure it out - and to properly explain to me how they would charge me again for just the "difference". Word of advice to anyone staying here - CHECK YOUR INVOICE VERY CLOSELY AND CHECK THE TOTAL $ BEING CHARGED.....
Overall a mixed bag... if it weren't for location I probably woudn't stay here again.

My partner and I both bwork as managers for hotels in NYC so we are more critical than others may be. Having said that, we were pleasantly surprised the hotel was better than some reviews here lead you to believe. We were not on a club level or "better room" so it did not influence this review. The room was super clean, no issues with the bathroom, TV or the inroom safe. Security throughout the hotel is excellent. We came back one morning after breakfast to find the maid in our room already. We just wanted to pick up our jackets and she made us not only show her our room key but close the door to demonstrate it was the right key. We have stayed in many many hotels and this is one of the rare times we were impressed y housekeeping security. They also have a large number of security in the lobby at all times.
The elevators were a bit slow, two of the six were out the entire time we were there but we have seen much slower elsewhere. The staff, to a person, was welcoming and willing to help with whatever we needed.
The only negative is room service. We tried it twice and both times found it lacking, once to the point of debating whether we should send it back.
Other than that fault, the hotel has a great location, great staff, excellent security, clean rooms. What else could you want. Buenos Aires is such a great city, you should not spend a lot of time in the hotel anyway, go enjoy and have no worries staying at The Sheraton.
