I highly recommend staying at the Hotel de las Americas. It is definitely a great value and the service is excellent, with the small exception of a couple of people at the front desk on the day shift who were rather indifferent, if not rude. Breakfast is included, and it's not just toast and cereal. They have eggs and little sausages (similar to the ones at our hotel in Montevideo), fruit, cereal, several breads... good buffet. The rooms were very clean and quite nice, perhaps the curtains, chair, and comforters could use updating but all were clean and the beds were very comfortable. The location of the hotel is excellent, someone mentioned it's not in Recolleta which is true but it's very central to everything and not quite in Retiro either. We loved Buenos Aires and this is a great hotel to stay at.

This was our second visit to Buenos Aires and we couldn't have been more pleased with the De Las Americas Hotel. While we did get the feeling that the service is geared mostly toward business and native travelers, we could not have been more impressed with the effeciency and promptness of the entire staff. And the location of the hotel is ideal. It is within easy walking distance of many major locations (Opera House, Recolleta area, all the major shops on Santa Fe, Avenue Florida, etc.) and our 11th floor room was comfortable, clean and very quiet.

I stayed at this hotel last year and enjoyed my visit. The front desk and concierge were extremely helpful and professional. I stayed a total of 7 nights and they made sure my teenage daughter and I were well looked after safety wise - which was nice since we were two women traveling alone. The hotel is in an excellent location. Not luxurious but definitely comfortable and clean and very nice. Close to the action but on a fairly quiet side street just a half block on either side from major intersections. Traveler’s note: Across the street was a place where travelers and locals alike could place international calls very cheap. Highly recommended.

This hotel is located within walking distance to great restaurants (like Liberdad) and banks for ATMs and shops. The service was quite good though some staff members did not speak English too well. The breakfasts (included in our price) was awful. Same watery tepid eggs and sausage daily, and bread was dried out and tasteless. But the rooms were clean and a decent "European" standard size. Service daily to the room was excellent. Safes available in each room.
