I stayed at the Park Chateau Kempinski when on a single-person tour of Argentina in 2004. I stayed at the hotel for about seven of 17 nights I was in Argentina. (I also went to much of the rest of the country.) The hotel is on a noisy street, but the ambiance more than compensates, or just ask for a back room. I actually found the street side fascinating, watching the bustle of BA's life below me. The young staff was outstanding. It was the best hotel staff I have ever seen, and I have stayed at many four- and five-star hotels in the States. The staff was very friendly and most spoke good English. One could easily see they were proud of the hotel and happy that Americans stayed there. Rooms are immaculate, and the lobby is filled with antiques.
Twice I needed a doctor for a condition I have--once in the middle of the night--and one was sent immediately. There was no charge either time. Insurance for both doctor's visits and stays at the German Hospital of Buenos Aires (best in the city) are covered by the room tariff.
The small restaurant was better than many of the more famous ones. If a guest needs anything, the staff will move heaven and earth to find it for that guest.
Finally, the location is perfect, just on the edge of the upscale Recoleta District. I was able to walk to Recoleta Cemetery to see Evita Peron's tomb. On the other hand, the hotel is also close to the opera-also within easy walking distance, the other way--and to fashionable shopping. I recommend the Park Chateau Kempinski unhesitatingly.
