This is is a truly grand hotel.
I have just returned from a short stay at The Alvear Palace following a trip to Cordoba.
The hotel is of the finest order, with exceptional reception, bar & dining facilities
I am aware that there is a great variation as to type & size of room ( I stayed at the hotel with 5 colleagues & we all had different room types & sizes ) however everyone shared my appreciation of the hotel.
The service is particularly worthy of note, with attentive & helpful staff in all departments
All in all a great experience - highly recommended

We were booked to stay at the Alvear Palace for a total of 4 nights but left after one night. The entrance, lobby area and breakfast room of the hotel are stunning. Unfortunately the room we were allocated was not! The Alvear is said to be the best hotel in BA - I disagree. The room was ok and the bathroom v small. The tub was plastic! We asked for our room to be changed - this was refused. Due to delays caused by the reception staff we were 2 minutes late for breakfast and were told that we could not have breakfast despite the fact that the buffet etc was still set out. I am afraid the Alvear did not live up to its reputation. It is definitely not worth $500 a night.

I have stayed at this hotel many, many times, but my most recent stay is reflective of every other stay I have had there--and for me, this is the only true benchmark of excellence, consistency.

The Alvear is a grand hotel in the old style. While some find the dress code (no running shorts in the lobby), I find it rather refreshing that there is at least one hotel that still maintains its standards of decorum.

I have stayed in the Alvear on business and on pleasure, for short stays and long, and have found it well suited regardless of the occasion.

Genius is in the detail: from the handbag hooks on the breakfast chairs, to an absolutely delectable breakfast spread, to fine dining, to shoe shine, to room service, this hotel moves with your needs.

The concierge deserves a special mention. Graciously organizing all manner of activities, restaurants, meetings, and finding me contacts well outside of the usual purview of a concierge, I found the concierge to be an exemplar of his profession.

The hotel is extremely well-located, and the prices are a good reflection of what you get...this one will get my vote every time.

This hotel is really beautiful. The service is wonderful. It is totally professional but not at all stuffy. The location is perfect especially for a morning run or evening walk. You won't be disapointed with this hotel or BA. It is a fabulous city and it is possible to live like a king while not breaking the bank. Loved it and can't wait to go back!
