I stayed there with my family, and everyone really liked the stay at the hotel. First I would like to write what I liked about the hotel.I loved the design of the hotel and it's rooms, the service was brilliant, the quality of the food could really gain michelin stars! The location was central and tourist area.At night it was quiet in the room. Now about bad things. In the room the air conditioner didn't work properly, sometimes it was too cold, sometimes too hot. Also it was a bit stinky in the corridors. Another thing that i would like to mention that there were no kids activities at the hotel.I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

Whenever I am in Buenos aires I always stop by the Alvear for lunch or a cocktail in the bar. This time I had the opportunity to stay as a guest and despite my lofty expectations , the Alvear Palace did not disappoint. Few hotels in the world can deliver the wow factor that you experience upon entering this grand palace. The marble, gold, and brass is as polished as it was back in the roaring 20s when Argentina was one of the wealthiest countries in the world. Even with all the glitz, the Alvear really shines when it comes to service. From the bellman to the butler, the staff is world class and that's what keeps us coming back again and again!

I had the privilege of staying here on business this month and experience the first class service I have heard so much about. The butler service was fantastic and exactly what you would want after a few long haul flights. And the bed was oh so comfortable. Black out curtains were also a plus. The all day dining restaurant L´Orangerie was beautiful with a lovely atrium. Breakfast was good but not excellent. Buffet lunch here was wonderful. The lobby bar has a real elegant old world feel to it and service was great. Drinks are expensive which is to be expected. If you are looking for a real luxury hotel experience in BA, then this is your hotel. Also, if you are looking to tick off another place in "1,000 places to see before you die", tick!!

As I stayd there since 1993, the Alvear represents the Uniqueness of luxury. The service is amazing from the doormen (always the same two guys since I have been going) to the room cleaners. All are fabulous, they are always helpful. The hotel is located in the best area of Buenos Aires. The only little hitch is the Fitness and spa, they only have a tiny pool that was actually made in a suite and transformed ... Apparently they will be creating a nice SPA shortly.
Nevertheless, just an absolute delight. And at night dont look further, La Bourgogne is the best place in Town (see my report on La Bourgogne), The breakfast is a Feast ! difficult to compare with any other breakfast . And the Hermes eau d'orange perfumes the rooms and the entire atmosphere.

Room Tip: High floors junior suites

I didn't stay in the hotel I must say, I stayed around the corner in the more modest melia boutique which was fantastic and at a more affordable rate but I came here almost every night to finish off the party in the cigar room...service is excellent they allowed us to smoke our own cigars after purchasing a few first of course and the drinks where amazing and all cigar come with chocolate truffles. You might find the random douche but the ambiance and the service def makes up for it....I've never drank so much and enjoyed myself as I did in alvear. They really keep it going.

We've been very fortunate in enjoying great travel on all continents. No hotel in the world, for us, compares to the Alvear and we have enjoyed staying there on several occasions over a period of twenty-five years. It is perfect in every way - the rooms, services, dining. It is expensive but worth every single cent. Located in the beautiful Recoleta neighborhood, the location is perfect whatever your interests. The expansive morning buffet breakfast in the beautiful atrium is a hearty and delicious way to start the day. The floor butler and all staff are gracious and incredibly helpful. Small and important touches abound - the butler offering to have two garments pressed (free) when we arrived, the fruit, flowers and so much more. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and elegantly appointed. We would not consider staying at any other hotel in Buenos Aires and have not found an equal to the Alvear anywhere.

The management and staff of the Alvear work so smart, so hard and with such a high level of professionalism in every respect that it's impossible to find a criticism.
