We stayed at the Sofitel for our honeymoon in June 2004. Everything was fantastic for our entire stay.

The staff couldn't do enough to accomodate us. The bar staff remembered our favourite canapes and laid on extras each evening. The concereige recommended & booked amazing restaurants and excursions to fill our time. Reception were helpful and spoke very good english.

Our room was high up, with roof top views of the city (and weather!). the room was more quirky than the standard ones which overlook the atrium, but had the usual high standard Softiel bathroom and storage.

Overall it was perfect for a chilled out visit to the city and if i ever get the chance to go back the Sofitel will be top of my wish list!

We started our honeymoon in Argentina by spending 4 nights at the Sofitel Buenos Aires. It was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The hotel is located in Retiro, one of the more attractive areas of Buenos Aires, and within walking distance of the famous Florida St for shopping. The hotel itself is a beautiful Art Deco building and no expense has been spared on the interior refurbishment. The lobby is most impressive as are the dining rooms and lounges on the ground floor.

Our room was well apportioned, bright and airy, and the marble tiled bathroom was modern yet luxurious. We were on the 15th floor and it was quiet and peaceful. The bed was large and comfortable, and the housekeeping was great, with beds being turned down twice a day, and little chocolates and a weather forecast left for us in the evening.

We had no complaints either concerning food. Breakfasts were excellent and plentiful with great service. At night we ordered room service once and ate in the dining room once. Both were good experiences, the dining room more so due to the range of food on the menu.

The concierge staff were excellent and helped us to plan trips and book restaurants. If you're in BA for more than 1 night, consider eating in Chila in Puerto Madero. An excellent restaurant.

All in all we couldn't fault our time in the Sofitel, and would stay here again if we were back in BA.

I guess when you expect perfection, and you don't get it, you get very dissapointed.

On my previews review I called this hotel the perfect place, and don't get me wrong, it is pretty good. However on my last trip to Buenos Aires, I took my wife and daughter for a 5 day weekend, and found that the hotel did not live up to my expectations.

To begin with I made an online reservation for 2 adults and 1 child using the hotel's website, and two days later I get an email from the reservations department, telling me that the fare was wrong. After a couple of emails back and forth the hotel gave me an "upgrade" to the actual room that I had booked on the first place.

Then when we got to the hotel and entered the room, the place smelled terribly. My 8 year old daughter described the smell as B.O ( Body odor).

Finally, on the third day after breakfast, while I sat at the bar waiting for a business meeting, I was asked to move from an unreserved table because it belonged to a "usual" customer.

There is nothing that bugs me most of this fancy establishments that when you realise that there are two tiers of customers. The "usuals" and the rest of us. And even though this was my fifth trip in a year to this hotel, I was asked to moved from the table. Needless to say, the table remained empty.

So, the hotel is still pretty good, and I would probably go back again, but I will lower my expectations and get the treatment that I usually get on any chain hotel.

This was our second time in Buenos Aires within a year. We stayed at the Claridge and the Alvear Palace the first time. This time we selected the Sofitel due to the Trip Advisor reviews as well as the Sofitel's great location near the Recoleta and also close to the Microcenter, San Martin and Puerto Madera.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel. The desk clerks, concierge and bell men were friendly and helpful. Since we had been there before, we didn't need much direction, but I saw them giving directions to others. We arrived on LAN Peru at 7:40 a.m. on March 2nd and within 30 minutes our room was ready.

The room was excellent, I have attached pictures. We prepaid on the Expedia website a Queen deluxe room with breakfast at $280 per night not including tax. The Alvear, which we loved, would have been a great deal more money, but we are not disappointed. The only distinction was the breakfast which was adequate, but not the same as having it in the L'Orangerie at the Alvear.

We were very pleased with our room. It was quiet, had a view of the rooftops of B.A. and had 4 outside windows. There was a lot of dresser and closet space. There was a walk in shower and a separate bath and two sinks. The room was rather large and very elegant and contemporary.

We felt comfortable walking to dinner at night in the Recoleta area or other restaurants nearby. Although there are probably many more, the two distinctive restaurants nearby are Juana M and Mira Sol.

We spent the next half of our trip at the BoBo Hotel and will write about that hotel on that site. That was a different experience and very pleasant as well. I would highly recommend the Sofitel.
