This was our second time in Buenos Aires within a year. We stayed at the Claridge and the Alvear Palace the first time. This time we selected the Sofitel due to the Trip Advisor reviews as well as the Sofitel's great location near the Recoleta and also close to the Microcenter, San Martin and Puerto Madera.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Sofitel. The desk clerks, concierge and bell men were friendly and helpful. Since we had been there before, we didn't need much direction, but I saw them giving directions to others. We arrived on LAN Peru at 7:40 a.m. on March 2nd and within 30 minutes our room was ready.
The room was excellent, I have attached pictures. We prepaid on the Expedia website a Queen deluxe room with breakfast at $280 per night not including tax. The Alvear, which we loved, would have been a great deal more money, but we are not disappointed. The only distinction was the breakfast which was adequate, but not the same as having it in the L'Orangerie at the Alvear.
We were very pleased with our room. It was quiet, had a view of the rooftops of B.A. and had 4 outside windows. There was a lot of dresser and closet space. There was a walk in shower and a separate bath and two sinks. The room was rather large and very elegant and contemporary.
We felt comfortable walking to dinner at night in the Recoleta area or other restaurants nearby. Although there are probably many more, the two distinctive restaurants nearby are Juana M and Mira Sol.
We spent the next half of our trip at the BoBo Hotel and will write about that hotel on that site. That was a different experience and very pleasant as well. I would highly recommend the Sofitel.
