Well, we were originally booked at the Waldorf Hotel after a tour..but were told on the last 2 nights that they over booked...so we had to leave!!!!

We were tired, and desperately wanted a nice room in the same location as the Waldorf, so we could be near other people we had met on the tour.

It was Easter weekend, so we were concerned that we would not be able to find a hotel...But we walked right into the Marriott Plaza, and were given a room for 200.00 per night, including breakfast!!!

That was alot more than the rate at the Waldorf, but we were so relieved that we found a room, that we went and got our luggage and checked in.

Our room was huge (compared to any other hotel we stayed at in Argentina), and clean with a great bed with lotsa pillows...We had a view of the courtyard which was fine. The bathroom was large and nicely tiled.

We didn't have a complaint at all, infact it was the nicest hotel we stayed at after almost 3 weeks in Chile and Argentina.

Breakfast was fine, and again, was better than any other breakfast we had on our trip....On Easter Sunday they brought a huge chocolate Easter Egg to our room..which was a nice surprise.

Maybe its' just me...but i loved the hotel....Staff was totally helpful and friendly, and when out of there way to make dinner reservations and helped us plan our day itineraries.

I guess it all depends on what u are expecting....but we were just darn happy to get a room and see the sites of Buenos Aires and have a nice comfy hotel to come back to!!!

I would definately stay there again and loved the location.

  • Liked — The comfy bed and the location
  • Disliked — Nothing, everything was fine.

The Marriott Plaza is well located in downtown Buenos Aires, on San Martin Square and adjoining Florida Street, one of the main shopping malls. It is a fine old facility which has been modernized, but it is still an old facility. The rooms were clean, everything worked.
Unfortunately we booked through a Princess cruise and it was an absolute goat-rope trying to get checked in; took 6 hours to get our bags, which were delivered to the hotel with us. Princess service was extremely poor.
Concierge steered us to an all-day excursion to an estancia on the Pampas, which turned out to be one of the highlights of our holiday. Cabs are plentiful and cheap, best way to get around BA.

We stayed here on Marriott points for four nights. The hotel was so full that there were no upgrade possibilities. The first room we were given was a smoking room. Unacceptable. It was quite a wait to get a second room. That room was fairly small -- you could not really close the door while standing by the toilet. Needless to say, there was no view. Everyday housekeeping seemed to forget to give us something when making up our room.

What was great was the location and several members of the staff including the concierge and transportation folks. The front desk always seemed to be dealing with complaints.

I had a manicure and was shocked to pay more for it than I would have paid in Washington, DC.

Charming and beautifully renovated old building in a gerat location. Near subway and bus transportation and at the start of the pedestrian Calle Florida, some of the best shopping in Buenos Aires. Large rooms with high ceilings and exquiste beds.

Some rough spots with service, but management (after commenting) intends to improve.

  • Liked — great location and fantastic building
  • Disliked — some service was not what i expected

After I booked my reservation online, I called Marriot reservations to assure this hotel had air conditioning as my sister has mulitple sclerosis and needs a cooler room. I was assured the hotel had ac. We were taken to our room at about 1530 and as soon as we got off the elevator we noticed how hot the hallway was and then saw the sign, "under construction. We were taken to our room and I immediately filed a complaint about the hot room. We were told the ac was just turned on and the room needed to "cool down." There was no ac blowing out of the vents. I make multiple phone calls and trips to the desk. I was told the only way they would change our room was if the maintenance department "informed them the ac was broken." NO ONE from maintenance would to check the ac. At midnight the PBX operator brought us a fan. During the night, my sister sweated so much that her red hair dye faded onto the pillow. I took this pillow to the front desk and tried to complain as loudly as possible so everyone could hear. Now they told me there was no record of any complaint!!!!. They sent maintenance to fix the ac and they had to replace the ac fan. The lack of customer service at this hotel was appalling. Houston, Texas
