This will be a really mixed review as there are some great points to this hotel but it is also very let down in some aspects.
My husband and I stayed for 3 days in a double room on the second floor. The view was of a concrete block but the room itself was very nicely appointed with one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in and a good sized marble bathroom. However, after spending 30mins trying to find the air copnditioning control we realised that we should not have bothered as it was so ineffective. Really, air con doesn¨t exist at this hotel. It is hot in the rooms, the halls, the lobby, etc. They really need to sort this out as it was an uncomfortable stay during a BA summer.
The look of the hotel and services on offer are what one would expect with a Marriot but, on closer inspection, the pool is very small, the gym equiptment is very old and the breakfast was ordinary (not a Hilton standard, for instance).
On one day., my husband and I had been on a tour all day, returned to the room at 16:00 to find that it had not yet been serviced. This is surely sub-standard for a 4 star hotel. On another night, we wanted a beer in the room and realised that our mini bar had not been re-stocked from the day before. A bit stupid when the hotel makes such a margin out of this service!
The saving grace for this hotel is the amazing location, right in the heart of the city. You can walk everywhere. However, if you want to have some respite from the city and some luxury, go to the Hilton (where we have also stayed).
