We picked this hotel for our 3-day, after cruise, stay in Buenos Aires because it's a name we know, and an American brand, figuring we would get service we were used to. Price was also important. That's exactly how it played out. The service was professional, the room was extremely large and clean, as was the bathroom. His and her sinks. Very comfortable toilet - the seats are squarish, not oval like in the states - we could learn something here. The concierge was knowledgeable and helpful. There was free internet in the lobby if you brought your own laptop (get your daily code from the check-in desk). The "American breakfast" buffet that came with the room featured a fresh omelet station, pastries, fruit, meats, cheeses, pancakes, cereal, breads, and carafes of juice and coffee left at your table. Quite good. The hotel is located next to the San Martin Plaza, a tree shaded park, at one end of Florida Avenue. Florida Avenue, at least the first 10 blocks anyway, is a pedestrian shopping mall, similar to those we have visited in Jerusalem and Amsterdam. This is where you get the gifts for friends back home. There's also the ubiquiteous clothing and leather stores all advertising the cheapest prices. And they are cheaper, much cheaper, than the states. The lobby in the hotel is a little weird, maybe because the hotel is 100 years old, but the elevators are either up a flight or down a flight of stairs. The porters however are very good at taking care of your luggage. Security personnel are everywhere ensuring a safe stay. Meals are ridiculously cheap in Buenos Aires, even the kosher ones in the Once area. Buenos Aires is now one of my favorite cities.
