We stayed at the Marriott Plaza for one night due to its attractive location on Florida street. Marriot is always a safe and reliable choice. The hotel is grand and beautiful, with very comforable rooms and heavenly beds. We had actually originally booked our last night at the Howard Johnson on Florida Street, but checked out immediately upon arrival due to several problems. Although twice the price, we were happy with our decison to move next door as the Marriot is superior in every way. Please note that at the end of the day, this is a chain hotel, but the advantage is that the quality is standard and you know what you're getting. If you're more adventurous, I recommend also spending a few days at a boutique hotel like Vain Hotel in Palermo (see review - highly recommended). The only drawback to the hotel is that the elevator does not go down to the main floor, so on the way out it is possible you may get stuck dragging your suitcases down the elaborate staircase if the front desk is busy. Tips: don't book taxi services through the front desk, just go outaisw and ask for yourself as you will find a much better price..Also be sure to check out the restaurants at Puerto Madero (extremely enjoyed Las Lilas), Caminito, and a Tango show in San Telmo (loved El Viejo Almacen). There are also many interesting monuments and artesanale fairs worth visiting. If you're there on a Sunday, the Antiques Fair in San Telmo is not to be missed.
