The Marriott Plaza Hotel from the outside is a beautiful hotel. Its location right at the end of Calle Florida is a big plus and the distance to Plaza de Mayo and other attractions is perfectly decent for walking. I have Marriott Rewards gold status which helped me score a larger room with huge bay windows looking out over Plaza San Martin. The view is nice, but from the 4th floor, the street noise can be quite loud. So, if you are a light sleeper, you definitely need to try to get a higher level room. The room was spacious and bed was extremely comfortable. Service, room amenities and housekeeping were good and fairly consistent with other Marriott properties, although there is evening housekeeping. As mentioned in other reviews, the paint is chipping in places and the fact that this is an older hotel is apparent in places, but everything in the room was in good working order. The health club was above average - big floor space, but it didn't have a lot of equipment. Overall, I would recommend the hotel and the price, $200/night, for a weekend rate is probably fair.

My husband and I stayed at the Marriott last week for 2 nights after departing the Celebrity Infinity cruise ship in BA. We requested an early check in, but as the hotel was full the night prior, we weren't able to check in until 2pm. We were given access to the Executive level where we booked dinner reservations with the excellent Concierges- Sebastian and Patricia. Our room overlooked the pool and the park across the street. The hotel is in a great location for shopping on Florida street. We didn't eat in the hotel but found a great Pizza place- Filo around the corner from the hotel. Champagne and pizza- what a great meal!. There is a Bank across the street with an ATM which is very convenient. An open air bus tour stops directly in front of the hotel as well. It was a very pleasant stay and the associates were very helpful. I would definately stay at this hotel again.

I have stayed in this hotel 5 times in the last 3 years and I always love it. It is one of the grand old hotels in Buenos Aires. The rooms and halls are not perfect - a little chipped paint here and there - but the beds and bathrooms are fabulous. The food is great but one of the most noteworthy characteristics is the wonderful concierge who helped me solve an unusual packing problem - getting a trade show tablecloth made in less than a day.

This is a great hotel. It is not cheap but well worth the money especially for business, romantic or honeymoon travelers.

We have stayed a the hotel twice in november.
First stay we had booked a de luxe, high floor, non smoking suite, and was given a first floor, smoking, one. Curtains were hanging loose, there was cockroaches in the bathroom, and trafifc noise was terrible. No need to say we did not sleep much.
It took two days to change the room - and I am allergic to tobacco smoke!
Second time around we tried to book elswhere, but Bueons Airs was sold out.
This time we were not meet at the airport, and despite of the promise of a high floor junior suite, we ended up on 4th floor with the view over a backyard well. very dark indeed. We were able to change the following day to the tineist rooms I ever had seen. There was a wonderful view over a roof garden, but no room for the kingsize bed we had booked, or for the sake of it a chair in either bed or livingroom. (there was a tiny sofa) It would be a wonderful room for a single person, but not suitable for a couple.
The staff was however very friendly, and the concierges wonderful which is the reason why we at all give it an okay.

There are possibly only a handful of major hotels that are worthwhile to stay in Buenos Aires. The Mariott is one of them. Apart from the notables such as Alvear Palace, the Marriott certainly holds its own against the major hotels. The rates are high, but not too bad considering the location. it's located right on the main shopping area of Florida Ave. It's also a convenient skip away from the subway station.

The two recommendations I would have are: 1) Ask for a room facing the park, and on the upper floors, away from the Florida ave street noise, and 2) Don't eat at the Marriott, since it's more expensive and better food can be had elsewhere; likewise, don't have them book your excursions, since they do take a rather large commission.

The only downside we experienced was that our air condition didn't work. The building is very old and historic, so it's bound to happen. The staff was extremely prompt in fixing the situation, and even offered to have our rooms changed if we weren't satisfied.
