Voted one of the 50 best restaurants in Latin America, and it was an amazing dining experience. The restaurant is located below the Fierro Hotel and is tucked away behind the reception desk. There aren't many tables so reservations are recommended. We arrived at 9:00 PM and it was full by 10. You do not get to choose your dishes, but, rather, are provided a tasting menu that is paired with various regional wines. (look up the menu before arriving). My wife did not like the idea of veal tongue and voiced her concerns with the chef - no worries, he substituted an outstanding egg dish that was probably one of the best dishes we had while in BA (the best dish being the lamb, below).
The service is attentive and will anticipate your needs. Do no feel shy about waving them down and asking their opinions or recommendations. The waiting staff speak English rather well.
The seven course tasting menu was fantastic and the portion sizes are perfect. Do not worry about leaving hungry, you won't. You can choose to experience the menu without wine, but I do not recommend it because a lot of thought behind the pairings really shine and you will be amazed how well they complement each other. The wine evolves other the course of the menu, and so do the dish's textures. Of note, was the lamb fillet with cherries, sweet potatoes, and pickled turnips. The cherry's sweetness cut so well into the earthy richness of the lamb and to finish it with a sip of cab was fantastic.
If you are in Palermo, then you will not have a shortage of places to eat. But you should visit HG for the fine dining experience.
