“A First Class Operation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

We used Cultura Cercana for three tours during our recent first visit to BA. In every case the CC guides were exceptional – friendly, engaging, professional, and thoroughly knowledgeable.

Buenos Aires Tour. We booked this for our first full day in BA after recuperating from traveling from the US. Our guide, Laura, was fantastic. She was personable, knowledgeable, and very accommodating to our needs and desires. We got a great introduction to the city and many of its highlights from the Casa Rosada to the Cementerio de la Recoleta to La Boca. Laura even took time to take us to the Buquebus terminal to get ferry tickets for our upcoming Colonia tour. Highly recommended.

Tango Tour. We wanted to see ‘real’ tango so engaged CC for their deluxe tango tour that includes an initial tango lesson followed by a visit to a milonga. Our guide couple was to be Andreas and Mirta. However, before our pick up time we got a message via our hotel that Andreas had called to say he was having car trouble and that David would be picking us up. David picked us up promptly (Argentines seem to be sticklers for being on time) and drive us to a dance studio were we met Mirta. Then Mirta and David taught us the very basic fundamental steps for the Argentine tango. From there we were driven to a milonga (in our case Salon Canning) where we enjoyed a couple hours just drinking in the atmosphere and talented dancers. My wife and I braved one attempt on the floor but it was short-lived due to our ineptitude. Again we all agreed that this was a wonderful evening and certainly recommend it to anyone wanting to get a feel for ‘real’ tango (versus the staged performances at the tango shows).

Colonia. This was a full-day tour providing a much different experience from Buenos Aires. We took an early ferry (8:45) from BA to Colonia that is in Uruguay, about 45 miles across the Rio de la Plata. Our guide, Bruno, met us at the ferry terminal in Colonia. Bruno was great – a young local man studying anthropology who was humorous, personable, and very knowledgeable. The tour included a walking excursion around central Colonia, lunch at a local restaurant of our choice, a visit to the local bullring, a winery tour and tasting, and a visit to a unique museum. The history of the area narrated by Bruno was fascinating.

“a good experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2013

Cultura Cercana is a good choice for a day tour of B.A.

We had Pablo as our guide for our group of 8. We did almost all of the essential sites in a timely manner. What made the trip special was Pablo himself. He has a wealth of information to share. He is a very patriotic Argentinian with many opinions he was happy to share all day. There was no question we asked that went unanswered. He is a charming young man. We were lucky to have chosen this company and draw Pablo. By the end of the day, we had learned a lot about Buenos Aires and Argenina in general.

The van was roomy, with an excellent sound system.

We were taken to lunch at a neighborhood bistro absent of tourists except for us. We left the ordering to Pablo. Another good decision. Great typical B.A. fare.

A wonderful day!

“Not Just for Buenos Aires!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2013

Although we did not use Cultura Cercana in BA we did work with him booking us tours in the ports of Ushuaia and Puerto Montt. Bruno was amazing to deal with. he gave us options in each of these ports and provided us with outstanding local guides. Gaston in Ushuaia was knowledgeable and clearly had a love of nature sharing all the wonderful scenery outside of the city. We would never have had the chance to experience what we did if we had simply stayed in Ushuaia. Ingrid in Purto Montt, also a local took us on a tour to Osorno Volcana and Petrohue Falls. What a day. Pictures cannot properly show the magnificance of the area. Do not hesitate to use Cultura Cercana for all your port destinations!!

“GREAT!! Tigre Tour with Andres and Mirta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

My wife and I and our 2 children took a 14 day cruise that ended in Buenos Aires. As we got out of port Andres was waiting for us with his big smile. He is a very nice and enthousiastic man. He had organised transportation for our luggage to be sent to our hotel as we left to meet his partner. We met Mirta at the marina, she was very inviting. What a joy to spend the day with such a lovely couple. They prepared a wounderful lunch. Picada and their famous ravioli was on the menu. Mirta suprised us with her crème caramel accompanied with dulce de leche. We finished the afternoon with a tango lesson. I would recommend this tour to anyone planning on visiting Buenos Aires. We have made new friends in Argentina. As for Cultura Cercana, these are plaisant people to deal with. Thank you.

“The best day in Buenos Aires!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

Our day with Alex was better than I could have imagined. We saw everything, at just the right pace, with a sensitivity to the likes and dislikes of our party of nine people. Alex had a bounty of information which he delivered in a sometimes humorous and always interesting way. We didn't realise just how huge the city was, and really appreciated being taken around in a very comfortable minibus. We would never have been able to get around to it all on our own.
