“Solid empanadas and okay pizza in Recoleta.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2010

If you're walking down Pena between Ayacucho and Pueyrredon, and find yourself feeling peckish or thirsty, Cala Pizza is a nice place to spend an hour or two. Although it's a pizza place, you'll find the empanadas way better. Better yet, order the menu del dia. One day when we were there, there were three options (the canelone was delicious, the milanesa was tasty but a bit dry, not one had the sandwich), along with a generous glass of wine or beer and dessert -- all for about US$8-10. It's not fancy, and the staff isn't super friendly, but it was certainly filling, and the price was right.
