“Unexpected but excellent”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2010

It is well known that French people can be picky with food :o)

After an exhausting day visiting Buenos Aires, we went to TripAdvisor to find a nice restaurant close to our hotel.

Even though this one had only 3 reviews, they were all good... and the restaurant was in the right neighborhood.

Arriving there, we were the only ones... but who cares, all the waiters were really dedicated to us.

the dinning room is very wide, high but also very cosy with the white and grey walls, the small red bricks on the ceiling, the wooden wine closets on the wall and the mosaique tiles on the floor.

The waiter was very nice. Even though he didn't speak French and we spoke very little Spanish, he made a lot of efforts and the communication was OK.

The food was very good. The bife de chorizo was extermely tender and well cooked. The seafood risotto was also very enjoyable.

as for the price, it's a medium / higher end range in Buenos AIres, but remains very cheap compared to French prices (total bill for 2, including wine was less than what it would cost for 1 person to simply eat in a similar restaurant in France).

All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Definitely recommended.

“Excellent experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2010

Unlike everything else on San Telmo, the restaurant has a quite entrance. My wife and I only entered the restaurant because we were starving and it was near by, I am glad we decided to eat there. We were greeted by the well-dressed owner immediately. The place was uncrowded, cleanly decorated and had a man playing the piano. The wine list was delicious (if you like Argentina's wines . . . and we do), the steaks perfectly prepared and the wait staff was polite, pleasant and prompt. Because it happened to be my wife's birthday, they brought out complimentary tiramasu (also delicious) and champagne while singing happy birthday.

“San Telmo Gem - GREAT FOOD”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2010

This amazing little gem on the corner of Defensa & Venezuela in San Telmo will make you wonder why more people aren't waiting for tables. Live piano music accompanied dinner on a recent rainy weeknight and the attentive wait staff was personable and efficient. The menu provided flavorful choices that allow you to enjoy Argentine cuisine to the fullest, complemented by a deep domestic wine list.
One of the best meals we had in Buenos Aires. Don't miss this one!

“Old World Resto”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2010

If you happen to be in San Telmo for the flea market or any other time, try this resto. If you're fortunate, you might have Raoul serving you. He made our eating experience memorable in this old world resto with his impeccable service. We were only having lunch but he made us feel we were dining out in the finest restaurant in BA. My wife and shared appetizers and main courses and he would not dare allow us to divide it ourselves. He insisted on doing it the "old way" and divided it on two separate plates from the original serving plate. I dropped my napkin and he immediatedly came over to replace it....small things , but a real class act. Food here almost is as good. Provoleta and chiparones (grilled squid ) were delicious. Lomo (beef loin) was perfectly done to our request and tender. Good wine list. Piano player plays all the memorable music well.
Highly recommended after trying it several times during our stay in BA.
